It's not likely that that Agent Smith could ever be anything more than a character in a Sci-Fi movie. The Matrix is a bad movie series showing the exploitation of humans as sources of energy for their machine rulers.

Efficient energy from a human source? No. There are too many far cheaper energy sources to consider. The energy needed to sustain a human source would be many times greater than would be its output.

Yea I pretty much agree. I don't know how much of a drive there is for biological evolution in most of the world (for humans). Evolution only really favors getting a species to reproductive age, once they've reproduced anything that happens after that is pretty much irrelevant from a natural selection standpoint.

Doesn't mean certain gradual changes can't happen, they just won't have the same pressure for selection.
