Are horror films even frightening anymore? Do any scare you?

Seems like nothing surprises anyone anymore. And most of the new ones completely suck arse.

Take Insidious for example. Worst acting and writing I've seen in years.

The only ones that even entertain me are the ones that are "real". Like the first half of all of the Paranormal Activity movies. The build up is the creepiest/scariest part.

The first was really good. Looked behind me a few times getting up at 4 am for work. But they are just dragging it on now.

I thought Insidious was at least imaginative. But too many ghost/haunted house movies have been produced in recent years.

The horror genre sucks in general. You'd have to be a complete moron to take the story lines even half seriously of most of them.

Paranormal, supernatural and fantasy bore the absolute frick out of me. SciFi and psychological thrillers can be good, though.

I particularly like SciFi horror movies like Predator and Alien(s), and psycho thrillers that feature serial killers like Seven Deadly Sins. There haven't been any good ones lately, though.

Everything has sucked since the 90s.

Everything.

I'm the exact opposite. The paranormal movies fascinate me because there is at least some evidence that kind of activity actually occurs in real life whereas Predator or Aliens while entertaining is pure fantasy. The first 3 Paranormal Activity movies were pretty creepy and scary. The ones after that not so much. The zombie movies and shows like The Walking Dead are just ridiculous and not scary at all to me. I agree with you about the serial killer movies. They are scary because they could happen.

The first Paranormal Activity was scary. Saw it in theaters when it came out and then had to go back to an old house with all kinds of fun noises. I enjoyed V/H/S as well.

The Exorcist will probably always be the scariest movie I've seen.

I mostly watch only slashers like Nightmare On Elm Street. Halloween. Friday the 13th. Child's Play. Texas Chainsaw. etc of the few supernatural based horror films I've seen Amityville. Carrie. Insidious. Phantasm. Christine. Pet Sematary. Conjuring. all those have jump scenes? but nightmare type scary no. nothing really makes me cringe more than Willard im a 24 year old guy and whenever I see rats I get squeamish just thinking about Willard.

recently over the past few years I've started watching a lot of the old black and white films from universal and hammer atleast back then there was an attempt to scare the viewers Example the 1931 version of Dracula the as soon as poor harker starts walking up the steps and sees The Count coming towards him when all of the sudden a wolf howls and poor harker is basically trying to keep from shitting all over himself. back then as long as you hard slow sounding organ music coped in with a graveyard and a abandoned castle you had the perfect horror film

Sinister was probably the scariest movie I've seen in the past 5 years. Other than that, they'll all been disappointing. the V/H/S series has been pretty good though compared to the rest of the genre.

I'm a huge horror movie buff and Serial Killers and Ghosts/Demons are my thing. Jason, Freddy, Chucky, Michael Myers, etc.

There's no scientific evidence for paranormal activity or aliens. It's all make believe. Meant for entertainment only. Some of it is, but most of it is schlock.

There is a man (forgot his name) that has offered up 1 million dollars to the person who proves paranormal activity exists.

To this day , he has exposed at least 40 frauds and nobody can prove it.

Proof is in the eye of the beholder. Some folks are easier to convince.

The first 40-ish minutes of Grave Encounters are awesome. Not scary but creepy as all hell. Other than that, haven't been scared by horror movies in a long time.
