you can learn more from watching a MMA fight or self defense videos.

What's the MMA's position on sucker punches?

Multiple assailants?

Other than honorable strikes?

I use a combination of the two, but mostly I use these videos to show what a person's body language looks like when they want to fight. I can tell just by people's knees if they're actually going to fight or not, there are other small indicators too.

A lot of fighting is the psychology behind it, an able body will help as well but if you approach a situation intelligently -- you might actually get out of the fight which is generally my philosophy.

Strictly speaking, nothing is worth the chance of getting brain damage from a concussion, but it's good to prepare yourself for those who wish to do you harm.

I mean I get what your saying, but I've never been in a fight that I didn't somehow involve myself in... and there isn't a lot of defense against a sucker punch other than scaling up a person before they get in arm's reach. I could go to any social gathering right now and sucker punch someone.. I'd just have to portray myself as non-threatening... and then immediately hit you. In the matter of time you have to judge someone's stance, etc.. you could have easily removed yourself from the situation, usually by stopping your jackassery or getting away from their jackassery.

Multiple assailants is a different story though... you could get in a situation in which you had no where to go.. but I would look to other self defense videos for this... not fight videos.. it's a much easier and faster way to get to the information you may seeking by watching a fight video...

This is true. Most people put themselves in situations that can go wrong.

And this is false. The "knockout game" as it's called wherein random strangers come and hit you is a reality -- but most of the targets aren't young, able bodied participants for a reason.

You should always be aware of groups -- they're the most likely to start trouble (confidence in numbers).

I (thought) I had made it abundantly clear that the purpose of my "camp" was to instruct people how to get out of any given situation rather than to fight. That's as a last resort, and unfortunately sometimes you have to do it.

I suppose this is because I live in Mexico City, where retreat isn't always an option. It is the safest, best option, but if you need to fight: Understanding the mechanics behind it (as demonstrated in most of these videos) is necessity.

No one likes to get knocked out, but it shouldn't be when someone is filming you in vertical cam and your attacker is windmilling.

Well I should have said without scaling up a person or a group of people... I work in a liquor store.. I scale up every single person that comes in the store.. it starts as soon as I realize they are anywhere near me... whether it be the parking lot or just walking in... I use things like immediately asking them how it's going... and then judging both their physical and vocal response... I judge how they act, what mood they are in, if they seem nervous, etc etc.

People often say I'm paranoid until I show them videos like those -- where people are minding their own business and trouble strikes. Kudos to you on being aware and of course, talking to people. It's amazing how much humans convey with words and without them.

Please stay safe.

Best feeling ever landing a solid punch on someone's jaw. Also a great feeling getting hit in the face and nowing it's on.

I slammed a little punks head into a locker in 8th grade. Little shite wouldn't shut up so I wanted to see if he wanted to follow through.

He didn't

Only "fight" I've ever been in.

The only times I've been punched it was in someway my doing... but like straw says some are out to flat out do you harm for no reason and it's best to be aware.

Annoying as frick. But the worst part of these fights are when a defenses dude is getting wrecked while out cold on the ground. That is such pussy shite.

Like I said earlier: That's borderline attempted murder.

Most of the worst damage to your brain comes from getting struck while out -- and getting up immediately when having been knocked down (and then repeatedly getting knocked down or out).

What really pisses me off is when people try to stand up a person who has been knocked out -- worst thing you can do.

They're all from Liveleak but a few of them I haven't seen before or if I did, I forgot with the thousands of hours logged in watching this stuff.

The one where her head got slammed on concrete? Yeah, that's TBI for sure. The convulsions are bad, but her body language regarding her wrists are worse.

Definitely brain damage.
