MACON, Ga. --

Students at one south Georgia high school share classrooms and sports fields; but, they don't share the same prom.

The school holds one prom for white students and another for students of color.

"We're embarrassed, it's embarrassing, yeah it's kind of embarrassing," said student Stephanie Sinnot.

What in the world?

I know some schools in Mississippi still have black and white homecoming queens... but segregated proms?

A Mississippi high school didn't let a lesbian couple come to prom together.

Off topic board.

Also, while this seems racist, I wouldnt be surprised if students of both races suggested and pushed for this.

It is what it is.

Wrong.

It's not a school sanctioned event. They are private proms held by the students themselves. There is a redneck white one and a ghetto black one. They prefer it this way. This is racism de facto, not de jure. If you don't speak Latin, that means it's people separating themselves, not being separated. Do you understand, you ignorant bucktoothed Alabama slackjaw?

There's only one good thing about Macon, and that's interstate 475 to bypass Macon.

Nope, not from Macon. This story runs around every year in the Spring, the facts are always ignored, it's always debunked, media never follows up to clear the air because their job is done, and it happens in several GA counties down south. This year must have been Macon's turn.

Too bad Neal Boortz retired, he usually is the one to clear the air on these topics.

They made a movie about this kinda thing a few years ago about some high school in Louisiana. It starred Raven Symoné before she went all lipstick lesbian.

But yeah, wrong board.

Exactly what deeprig said. The school couldnt legally sanction this, that Im aware of. The event is probally hosted by the parents. Besides I watched a documentary on hbo 3-4 years ago that was about a couple of schools in mississippi that did the same thing and it was held off campus for that reason.
