There were several times during deployments to the gulf that I felt as though I was only protecting corporate Americas interests. We used to talk about it all the time.
It's a little different now, but when I was in all we did was enforce the Iraqi no fly zone and secure shipping lanes for super tankers.
We did bomb the shite out of Iraqi installations along the no fly zone a few times, but that wasn't to protect anyone back home either.
That guy is entitled to his opinion, but he's dumb if he didn't think he'd get any backlash for it.

It's certainly the way he worded it that got him in trouble -- what he feels isn't original or profound but there's a certain warranted tone-check when you speak about it from the comfort of your home that rubs people the wrong way.
Most of my "service" was OPFOR as a contractor with the Army (I did serve in the Navy, but only briefly) and the sentiment was "frick the Army" for the most part. Could be anecdotal, but I've definitely heard the narrative before.

As a veteran who fought for his right to rant, I could give a shite what he thinks of me. I know what I did, it's well documented on my DD-214 and a few other places. If I need a gun and he has a good deal I'll consider purchasing from him. Other than this one fleeting moment in time, I'll never give this guy another thought.

I also agree with this, as well. I don't know what his personal opinion has to do with his arms dealership. It can be wrong, stupid and ill-advised, but does it really hurt anyone?
