he was a great governor no matter what any liberal says. Every metric you can use says he left the state better off than he go it and Texas thrived whole other states suffered in the late 2000's.

Being the governor of Texas is like taking the coaching reigns of the 60s Celtics. You'd have to be absolutely abysmal to frick it up.

Our state has the ideal economic setup culturally and financially. If Texas were it's own country, our GDP would rank 11th in the world just behind Canada and ahead of Australia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and many other strong world economies.

Yes, there are a couple other states with very strong export power (California being the most obvious). However, when coupled with a lack of income tax and relatively higher wages when compared to cost of living Texas has more domestic spending power and a much stronger economy.

The problem with this is you obviously don't remember that this hasn't always been the case. I remember when Ann Richards and Mark White were Governor. The Dems ran Texas for a long time, though there were a lot of Blue Dogs (of which Perry was one) Perry has plenty of faults but he is a true conservative who is consistently pro business, low tax, and small government. It's ridiculous to look at how Texas performed from 2000-2015 and just assume it would have happened with anyone as Governor is delusional. From 2007-2015 Texas created 1.4 million jobs and without that the country would have actually had a negative job growth during that same time period as the other 49 states had a combined negative 275k.

It sure would suck if we had that kind of success on a national level.

the big difference is that the other states during Perry's reign failed miserably and he didn't. If you're the Governor of California, Florida, TX, or NY you have to be a pretty big idiot to frig it up. 2 out of those 4 did in the last 10 years.

case in point. you think Texas just magically got to that point without wise governance when there are states with more oil, more tourism, more manufacturing industry, etc than TX?

Why does everybody hate Rick Perry? He was a very good Governor for Texas and he sure as shite didn't do anything to frick up the growing job market and booming economy for Texas.

I'm a republican, but Perry wouldn't be my guy. I just don't think he's that likeable and wouldn't get a lot accomplished compared to other republican candidates.

I don't hate him by any means but he's kind of along for the ride in Texas. The oil industry was going to flourish in Texas no matter.

I'd prefer not to have him, but I certainly like him more than GWB

For what? President?

Jindal won't even get invited to a GOP primary debate.

California is fricked up by its own people voting in mandatory spending props. There's not much the governor or the legislature can do there.
