I love the Morgan, Fentress, Scott, Jackson, Putnam, Overton county area. Ive always enjoyed the Cumberlans mountains on the East TN/Middle TN border. You guys have some big arse hogs out there.

Been to a few of those spots and now I plan to go to a few more. Thanks for posting this.

Jackson County and the Roaring River area is a beautiful and remote as public lands get. If I had the money I would buy up thousands of acres and turn it into a protected area.

Oh, no doubt. I was just saying that the Cumberland Mountains areas that you mentioned are beautiful and mostly unknown to the masses. I hope it stays that way.

That was to RobertG, but I agree with you on Jackson County. It's beautiful man. I've got a buddy who has a few hundred acres on the river up there. I remember being surprised how untouched it was by man. Country, country, in a good way.

Pretty country. Have relatives in North Carolina and spent a couple summers in Western NC, Eastern Tenn.

yep, lots of good ol's up there. I can't say much, I grew up about 5 minutes from Windrock Mtn and spent a lot of my childhood in Morgan and Scott counties beating their arse in various sports so I've been around crazies and reds all my life. One of my favorite drives in TN is I-75 N in Scott Co and SR 63 going towards Huntsville, absolutely gorgeous in places.

I agree with Bri, if I had the money I'd buy up a lot of land in the Cumberlands, especially before some fig from Ohio buys it.

Up er in waatburg. God damn Morgan County is red, but I love 4 wheeling up on Windrock. Frozen head and over by brushy mountain is always fun to hike. My grandfather lives over in Crab Orchard on one of the last big hills before the plateau starts to flatten out. I'd love to have some land over there. His place is where I've seen some big hog and 1 black bear when we were ginseng hunting last summer.

Mother fricking Wattburg. I didn't know there was an r in there until I was about 19. We used to four wheel and quail/grouse hunt up on Windrock when it was still free and was just old logging/coal mine roads...was a blast, but you had to be careful not to stumble onto someone's grow op. I haven't been since they charge but I hear the trails are pretty well maintained. I was just up at Frozen Head last week, I like that it isn't that crowded.

It really is. I've always said that going into Jackson County is like going back in time like a hundred years. Good thing is, I don't see it becoming developed anytime soon.

Did you ever go swimming at Crab Orchard? Clearest, bluest water ever. Another place I spent a lot of time at while skipping school. Had some friends jump off the top...........crazy fricks.

I never knew that's how it was said by people from Morgan County until my cousin dated a girl from up there. Bat shite crazy.

We rode up there a lot when we were younger, but it's probably been close to 15 years (4wheeling).

Maybe. We call it Ozone falls though. If we're thinking of the same spot. You talking about the big arse water fall that's right off the side of the road?

No problem -- I haven't been to the Lost Sea in Sweetwater since an elementary school field trip. If you stay straight on that road though in about 20 miles you'll hit the mountains/Cherokee National forest. Lotta black bear up in the mountains on the back side of Monroe County.

This place is right off of 40. I think it's an old rock quarry that is filled with water.

Found it on google maps........

Yeah, that's it. Here's a video of some crazy Bastard kayaking off it when it flooded a few years back.

Edit: Its hard to tell. That might be it. This is what it usually looks like when it's not flooded

Yeah, not the same spot, but cool as hell though. Next time you're there checkout the Crab Orchard hole. The water is as blue as the sky and it doesn't have surface water running in. Not sure, maybe they hit a underground spring while blasting. It really is the prettiest water I've ever seen.

Ozone Falls Info

Here's a link to Ozone falls. They're close to each other but I never knew about that specific quarry you just mapped. Thanks for the share
