It means our founding fathers were cognizant that God was a basis in the founding of our nation.

This doesn't make any sense. Did God come and do a demonstration on how to create a country? And which God did they consult?

God influenced our founding fathers in their efforts. It was the Christian God....thus America founded as a Christian nation.

Thomas Jefferson basically wrote another version of the new testament taking out all of the Jesus "miracles". So yes country founded on God but not necessarily Christianity.

Technically, the Iroquois Nation had more influence in the creation of our government than God.

Influenced SOME of our founding fathers.

Many of the founding fathers were Deists and some were straight up Atheists.

Jefferson simply presented the teachings of Jesus in his books "The Philosophy of Jesus" and "The Life and Morals of Jesus". He was a professed Christian.

Our founding fathers writings are full of acknowledgements to God and His providence.

I'm curious though....who were the atheists?

During the founding of the country, Hamilton probably was. James Madison may have been as well.

That's just looking at some of the big ones.

I thought being a professed Christian meant you had to believe in all of the Jesus wizardry and magic tricks. Jefferson didn't. Most of our founding fathers were deists like the previous posters have said. If you think they were Bible thumping Christians then you are wrong.

At no time do we see Hamilton denying his Christiantiy. He was born a Christian and died a Christian, promoting Christian views and values.

MAY have been? We can find many references to Adams' belief in Christianity and find where he was born a Christian and died a Christian. What we cannot find is Adams promoting atheism in the slightest.

If you can point out a founding father denying God, please post it.

I never said they denied God. I never said they were atheists. They were mostly deists. Believed in the good works and teachings of Jesus not the magic tricks. Fairy tales are for little children.

John Adams said and i quote "the government of the united states is in no way founded on the Christian religion". Doesn't get any simpler than that.

Thus, America was founded as a Christian nation.
