It's like that up in Northern Arizona. My dad's English and my mom's Navajo, I was brought up a bit of both. In my mom's residence there's no indoor plumbing. Heck there was no electricity up until the mid 90's.

I live in the heart of the MS delta and I've never heard of anyone not having indoor plumbing.

If you live away from the cities in Hawaii most houses don't have access to public utilities. They have separate buildings that house their showers and toilets as they collect rain-water.
