I was on the bridge restaurant between the two Rich's buildings in downtown Atlanta. Sadly, no more.

I was in high school too but was listening to the radio when it came on. Very sad day indeed.

I was in the USMC stationed at New River NC HMLA-269 when that happened funny, I remember walking back from the flight line after my tug broke down and everybody was huddled around the 22 inch TV in QA kinda in shock watching it again and again like it would change. Being in the service it's a little different within twenty minutes I heard my first space shuttle disaster joke...

My brother and I argue to this day about where we were when it happened. I was in the 5th grade and was home sick that day while my older brother swears he was the one home sick. Either way, that was one of those events that you knew where you were when it happened.
The 5th and 6th grade classes at my school had our bi-annual field trip to The Space and Rocket Center Center in Huntsville literally a week or two before the disaster happened. I remember we got to see the different parts of the shuttle from the solid rocket boosters to the main vehicle. You get an appreciation for just how massive the shuttle really is when you tour the Space Center in Huntsville. It's huge.

I was in the Army at Ft. Irwin, didn't see it live but remember the Reagan speech later that day.
