Ridiculous to take it away from him anyways. He was without a doubt the best player in college football that season lol.

10 years overdue, but it's something.

I'm sure the pending lawsuit got the wonderful folks at that heisman trust to have an epiphany on the issue

Absolutely the right decision given the current landscape and NIL shitshow

Good.

Stupid to do a take back, even under the old rules.

Gotta love looking at the past through a modern lense.

He still knowingly broke the rules and was caught

He broke the rules. The rules were not some sort of constitutional violation. He's a cheater and USC cheated.

Is the NCAA now going to start compensating all the teams they put on probation over the years? What sort of payments will be made to SMU?

ETA yes I know the NCAA is not giving the trophy to him, I'm just extending the logic of this to the NCAA and teams that were on probation because of the logic of the decision about the changing nature of CFB.

This is weird.

The behavior his parents engaged in would still be illegal today.

If he was taking some crazy PEDs or something I’d agree. His family getting a house doesn’t make him less of a football player to me.

He got illegal benefits off the field at the time.

That has no impact on any of the games he played in.
