How did Troy become the worst team in Division 1?

What in the world happened? They were either good or solid for like 10 straight years and then the bottom just fell out. Is South Alabama stealing all their players? Blakeney just quit trying? What's the deal?

Been wondering the same thing. They used to be a pretty respectable program at one time.

Can you imagine 6 years ago being told USM and Troy would be 2 of the 3 or 4 worst teams in Divsion 1A?

I don't know but I haven't seen UGA just beat the everloving shite out of a team like we did yesterday in a very long time. I mean it had the feel of a G-Day game that went on two hours too long. It started getting awkward.

UAB is good this year, South Alabama started a program and Mobile>>>>Troy, AL. Even Jacksonville State has been good the last couple years. There's only so many mid-level players in the state of Alabama to go around

No but I love seeing USM be terrible. They have won twice this year but their wins are over Alcorn State (26-20 ) and Appalachian State (21-20)

Yep - they lost to Abilene Christian.
I mean it wasn't long ago Troy was going in and giving everyone they played a scare for their lives, running it up in the Sun Belt and going to the Mobile or New Orleans Bowl every year.
Then all of a sudden splat.
Same could be asked about Southern Miss.

Didn't realize they'd beaten Appy. I know they are new to D1 but that's only their 2nd D1 win in like 2 or 3 years isn't it?

This
We kept putting different running backs in and they kept blowing through the line

Yea - but UAB being good is because of Clark, not because they started stealing Troy's players (they might going forward).
I think USA is contributing to the downfall of both USM and Troy. I'm guessing GA Southern joining D1 isn't going to help them much either.

I don't know, but their marching band is awesome if I remember correctly.
We scored in the high 60s against Troy a few years ago.

DeMarcus Ware went to Troy, and he grew up in Auburn, Alabama. No scholarship offer. I love that random fact.

Troy was up on LSU 31-0 a couple of years ago weren't they until LSU came back?

Nah they beat UAB to end the season last year.

Osi Umenyiora went to Troy and is from Auburn too (moved there in high school from England).

It's just crazy how bad USM has gotten. I remember as a kid growing up we played USM in the first few weeks (generally before or after Vandy) every year and every year it was 14-7 or 17-13 or something along those lines. They got after it.
