Hey guys!!! I'm just trying to connect with some Missouri football fans who can keep me up on things that are happening around the program. I'm Yasir's father and I hope he is everything that you guys expect him to be. By the way my name is Mike. Showme17

Glad to have your son and welcome to the Zou family to both of you. We have a young team with a mostly new coaching staff and new systems on both offense and defense and we just recently won the East in the SEC in 2013 and 2014 and your son will be part of the mix that will help us get back there again within the next 2 years. This year might be a struggle, but watch out in 2018.

Oh good Lord. Sir. To be honest, this really isn't the best place to get a good picture of Missouri football fans. We're all a bunch of crazy assholes here, and it's heavily weighted towards a small number of people that post a ton.

Most of the the news surrounding the program is posted here relatively quickly though, so there's that.

That said I'm sure everyone will be super nice to you and I know everyone will be super interested if you have any insight into the recruiting process. Also of interest is why you all and your son chose Mizzou, being all the way out there in Pennsylvania(right?)

To get news about Mizzou I read the websites of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, The Kansas City Star and the Columbia Tribune. I also read rockmnation.com.

Thanks Zou !!! Well I'm very excited and he is as well to be apart of this journey with you all. We are in it for the long haul so hopefully things turn around quickly so we can be apart of something special. I will come to as many games as I possibly can to show my support. Thanks again Zou!!!

Thanks TJ. I'm looking forward to reading some articles on the sites that you suggested. With that being said we are a bunch of a$$holes about our Eagles so I totally understand. I want everyone to be who they are. Imma a big boy. I've seen and heard it all. It was a long process so feel free to ask any specific questions you guys want to know. Good news is that he's on campus as of Wednesday 1-18-17. Looking forward to chatting with you guys. #Showme17

Nice to have you on the board and glad to have Yasir as a Tiger.

If you wanted to take the time, I'm sure everyone here would love to read about Yasir's journey. How he came to be at the JUCO. What schools were after him originally and after. Any funny stories from his recruitment. Anything really, I'd be very interested to get your take on the staff as well.

Hey Jesus. Well he ended up at juco because he was a late qualifier for SDSU. His score jumped over 100 points and SDSU decided they wanted to flag his score before the NCAA did. Well when they wind up clearing his score it was to late to report to SDSU. So he had 2 options, 1- was to stay home and do nothing or 2- go to juco and play some ball and stay in shape, so he decided to go to Arizona Western. He had about 9-10 offers. ASU, Temple, N.C, Rutgers, Umass, SDSU, Texas Tech, and a couple smaller schools. Rutgers was pushing real hard and I think he wanted to go there because he had a nice relationship with their coach but he end up being fired so he changed his mind. His mother went out to ASU with him on his first visit. I went to SDSU with him on his second visit. He had a visit with Texas Tech 2 weeks later but he canceled it and committed to SDSU. When he was at juco a few more schools started offering and Missouri was one of them. One of the coaches knows his HS coach and that's how that connection came about. Unfortunately I didn't make the trip to Columbia with him, his mother did. It was her turn. He call called me and said he loved the atmosphere and the coaches and he thinks he is going to decommit from SDSU and the rest is history.

Hey Mike! Glad to have you on the board. Some other sites you might look at is Tigerboard.com, although it's not the best it is a pretty active forum of Mizzou fans. We'd love to have you over at Powermizzou.com, there's several other players parents on that board and it has the most Mizzou articles and information of any of the sites, it is however a pay site, so keep that in mind.

welcome. Glad we have a few games that are closer for you in the next few seasons(UCONN, BC). As far as fans on this board goes, you'll be pleased that criticism is passed along more so with wrong doing. Most mizzou fans dont care if players play well or not, just staying out of trouble. We've had some trouble with that as of late, and really starting to get out of control and annoy us.

The 17 class really seems to be a close family already. More so then I've seen before.

To warn you, we are the extreme fans. Some forget these are kids still making there way. Fortunately, banning those who take it too far does happen, but still, some stuff goes over the top.

Yasir has a great OL coach in Glen Elarbee. Last year, I think all would agree, he'd get Coach of the Year for the football program.

Gary Pinkel really indoctrinated a family atmosphere with an emphasis in getting the kids graduated too.

Barry Odom played football at Missouri and coached for Pinkel. He seems to be bringing forward many of those qualities to his program.

We've been very good at developing raw talent. For example. OL Mitch Morse was a lightly recruited kid from suburban Austin TX. Longhorns never offered. He now is the starting Center for the KC Chiefs.

Welcome to the board... We aren't quite as bad a TJ makes out lol.... We can have some pretty spirited debates though... For the most part, this is a great group with some seriously knowledgeable guys and gals.

Welcome, and best to you, your family, and your son.

Welcome to the Zou family. We are very glad that your son is going to Mizzou and playing for the Tigers.

I believe your son has a great position coach. I would want that for my son.

PowerMizzou.com has super timely info, scoops and very good articles. But you have to pay...$. I believe it is worth it. Gabe & Co. work hard for good info. He somewhat controls the Tiger Liar plog. The other pages are the wild west.

All Mizzou sites are on the ol' interweb. It gets crazy out here. Thick skin is required. I'm not sure I would cruse the websites if I had a son playing.

It's really cool you came on the site and introduced yourself. I love the recruiting insight. Looking forward to Yasir as a member of the Zou. Shout out to the 215!

If I was an athlete and my dad was intruding himself as my dad on my teams forum, especially one with other fanbases on it, I'd have issues.

I'm sure you could learn about Mizzou and engage in discussion covertly and it wouldn't change anything about what you got out of it.

This isn't something you see often, or really ever for a number of good reasons that parents can usually discern for themselves.

But I guess some parents are involved on twitter, and that's obviously not anonymous. And I'm sure you've been doing this for years, so I guess you know how to avoid issues. Just not something I'd do myself.

Hey 314. Yes I already have those games penciled in. I'm glad the family will be able to catch a few of the closer games. Since his interest in Missouri I've been keeping close tabs on the program and have read some of the incidents. YaYa as we call him is a very grounded young man so hopefully he takes what his upbringing thought him and applies it there. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you guys when I come out or if you guys travel to the away games. #Showme17

Hey Stlox. I'm well educated with these chat boards. We have them here for our sports teams. I'm on a NFC east board where things get real deep so I'm ok with all of that. I had a long conversation on the phone with coach Elarbee and he seems to be ok. My son seems to really like the atmosphere up there in Columbia. Thanks for the feed back.

Thanks SemperFi. Glad you responded. I'm all for the spirited debates. I don't see anything wrong with that. He will give all he has to the University of Missouri.

Thanks Mule. I've heard nothing but good things about coach Elarbee. So that's a plus. I will cruise through the sites from time to time. I don't have the time to just sit in front of the computer all day so I won't have time to scan all the sites. But I will cruise through lol. I definitely have thick skin. No problems here. If he is playing like sh&t I will be the first to tell him. I'm not one of those parents. Thanks again
