Dave Matter was on 920 around 11 o'clock today and hinted that Coach Kul still harbors some resentment over being passed over for Odom last year. And while their relationship is professional, they are not close.

He also said (gun to the head) he thinks Odom will be the HC, the asistant he brought with him from Memphis will stay as will Washington, and Kul will be exploring his options.

Question: Does Odom without Kuligowski change how you feel about an Odom hire?

It does for me and in a big way. If an Odom program isn't a considerable extension of #DLineZoo, #MizzouMade and the player development program Pinkel installed, the shine is off the apple for me.

I want the Pinkel player development system and defense with fresh ideas on offense and elevated recruiting.

Give Kul another bump in pay.

Eventually he will sit down and say, wow I get paid a lot to coach 9 players.

Depends on who the replacement would be. Odom seems to be very well respected in the coaching community, so if he could bring in a well respected DL coach I would be ok.
Also would Kul be interested in staying as a DC under Odom?

Odom doesn't really make a lot of sense to me from square one.

Odom without Kul does even less. Does Kul have aspirations beyond a position coach that he should pursue now that GP is gone?

Kul at DC is key. I don't know why he wouldn't stay if offered the gig.

he has a great deep bench on the OL that will get him a HC job in 2 years after being the DC, if not sooner. If he leaves, he will lose the recruits he has and would have to start over. would take at least 3 years to recruit and gain the reputation he has now with putting his guys in the NFL.

I'm sure he doesn't love the fact that Odom jumped over him but his best path is to stay unless he were to be passed over again, regardless of money.

How old are Kuligowski's kids? High schoolers?

Think he has at least 1 that goes to Mizzou.

If Odom's candidacy is based on Kul staying, then you pass on him regardless of what Kul does.

Of course not, but I would sure like to keep Kul.

He'll weigh his options no matter who we hire though/

Washington? Really? Please no. We need Hill back with the WRs. As a unit, they've declined since he's been there!

And as far as Odom without Kul - deal breaker? No. Change how I feel about it? Yes. We need to keep Kul on. Kul, Hill and Ivey. And Walters.
