Where is Missouri going to recruit from?

Nebraska is dying a slow death because the B1G isn't a good drawing card for top southern talent.

It's just a reboot of the old Big 8 and while the memories are nice, you can't go home.

The SEC is apex of today's conferences and I'm really glad we're in it, even if we're clearly not one of them

I completely agree. I was just spitballing a conference full of teams I'd enjoy seeing us play, it wouldn't necessarily be a great option for Mizzou.

Dump Illinois and Iowa for North Carolina and one more school on the eastern frontier and I really like it.

Easy.

The schools are Rust Belt, diminished recruiting pools, cold weather, boring destinations, lack of history of success, lack of televisions (revenue).

This would be a nightmare conference on just about every level.

No thank you.

Mizzou works for the SEC. Yes, Texas A&M gives us TVs in Texas. And some recruits.

But let us be honest. If you aren't winning 10 games a year in Texas you aren't the lead program. There are so many good programs in that state that you can't latch onto the top program unless you are willing to accept the conference killing Texas.

Mizzou, on the other hand, gives the SEC a state with some solid markets, decent recruits, and an entrance into the still fertile Midwest. Long term Missouri should be a powerhouse able to reach into the Midwest and pull recruits while still hitting Florida, Georgia, and so on.

That sounds a little too rosy to me. I expect them to be middle of the pack in the east, not a powerhouse. Theor success will depend on having a better coach than other SEC East prorams. We don't have any built in advantages over Fla, Tenn, Ga. In fact the opposite is probably true.

Mizzou
Oklahoma
Arkansas
Texas
LSU
Alabama
Georgia
Florida
South Carolina
Tennessee
Ole Miss
Kentucky
N Carolina
Virginia

(I guess this is what I wish the SEC was).

Eliminate secondary schools like Texas A&M, Miss State, Vandy. Just flagships.

I would rather have Montana than Texas.
