Too much Pat Ivey, not enough Kino MacGregor

These injuries are a sign of too much lifting.
Too much weight being put on in too short of time.
Too many protein shakes.
Too much bro. Not enough feng shui.
Too much ying. Not enough yang.
Pat Ivey is great. He gets lots of awards and stuff. But he's just another guy inside a reality that doesn't put enough value on 'girly' stuff like yoga.
There has been a few 'waves' of change when it comes to athletic training -- but the evolution is far from over.
I can promise these meat wagons are lifting, lifting, lifting. Some stretching. Ect. But not enough balance with the yoga and other forms of athletic enhancement training that doesn't put emphasis on weighing more.

I know the protocol.
Add weight.
From day one of the off season to the start of the season -- get bigger, get stronger, weigh more.
These women that do a lot of yoga, jesus, their bodies are so sound. So strong. So stable. It puts 'big bro' strength to shame.
I'm not saying they should exchange the squat racks for yoga mats, I'm saying more balance with the training.
Less emphasis on weighing more.

Any more pics of the benefits of yoga?

The football & basketball teams all do some yoga. Guess not enough.
Need to bring in Tim Grover. He agrees that a big portion of ACL & Achilles injured are preventable.

Don't think too many Yoga masters are trying to shrug off blocks of 300 lb guards. I do agree that yoga is a good thing but your assumption that injuries are being caused by Ivey over lifting is speculation with no evidence. Football has always been a high injury sport and today football's impacts are greater then ever before. This years preseason has been light on injuries.

Actually, Ivey incorporates a lot of yoga and flexibility into the S&C program. There is a lot more to it than simply pumping iron.
The frequency of injuries is a result of playing football.

These guys race to weight and size gains.
Without properly strengthening the full body chakra system and ligaments.
Mixing a little yoga into the 'vision' of racing for gains is just a bandaid on a problem.
It's a program within an old vision.
There should be a new vision.

Personally, I like our linemen at 300 plus instead of the 280 or so that they played at in the Big 12.

I get what you are saying, but it's football you have to be big to play a lot of positions.
My point was, I don't think its a philosophical problem. Ivey is as a progressive thinker as you will find.
It's football, guys get hurt.

That's not really the issue.
The linemen can still weigh 300.
There's a ball of wax, it's got different angles and things to consider because it's a ball and not a straight line.
Problem: Weigh Too Much. Reaction: Don't weigh as much.
That's Hegelianism.
Stuck in the mud of the 2 sided spectrumorial plane of thought.

Recycling programs are progressive.
It's a program within an existing vision.
Real change only happens when there is a new vision.
Recycling, ect is like putting logs and big sticks on the side of a river in an effort to stop it and change its course.
Programs are just bandaids to a poor vision, they don't change the vision.
Ivy is just instituting programs within a bad vision.

Hegelian dialectic
Hegel's dialectic actually would work towards a solution to your proposed difficulty (assuming it is one). It is not a dichotomy with no resolution. It is a synthesis of opposing ideas over and over.

This is a bleacher report article on lowering injury risk. It does have solid info that I have seen several times.

Yeah.
Whenever I explained it before I said:
Thesis. Anti thesis. Synthesis.
When people say 'that's very Hegelian' -- it can refer to the isolation of two things on a linear spectrum, the thesis and the anti thesis. They may side with the former, latter, or synthesis -- but either way there is a narrowing of understanding because all results are born from the isolation of the thesis and anti thesis.
