Phillips said that he was disappointed in Mizzou fans complaining about how fun games use to be be when they would have larger crowds. He said that maybe if they had some larger crowds that might help motivate the team sometimes. otherwise the team as frustrating as they are many times they might play better off the emotion of the crowd plus feel loved.

He's right, and this is nothing new but Mizzou fans are as fair weather as they come.
Yes, being bad has PLENTY to do with it but still. Our crowds are nothing short of embarrassing.

With all the KA hate, it is true he's brought in good humans who are genuinely up for the challenge to fix this.
Some of the adults who are fans of this program owe these people some more positivity.

After the game the other night TP was still in the gym shooting the ball trying to get better. This dude is putting his heart in soul in Mizzou. He knows they are not good but isn't giving up on anything.

That's not really unique to Mizzou fans.

True, for sure. People like winning.
The main issue with this is the ability/inability for people to see things beyond surface level.
You don't have to spend your time or money on this program if you're not happy with it, and frustrations shouldn't be suppressed, but the lack of balance to some of the good things happening is downright pitiful, especially since it comes from otherwise reasonable and highly functioning adults.

Hmmm...
Bad things
Dead last in SEC, worst of the P5 conferences (twice)
Most losses in a season (twice)
Longest losing streak in Mizzou basketball history
Biggest loss in Mizzou Arena history
NCAA probation
Academic fraud
Zero road wins
Good things
....
You're right!
Mizzou basketball fans are wayyyyy too positive! There should be a lot more anger and negativity.

When they start winning again the fair weather fans need to keep their bandwagon arses away from the stadium and arena, because all those things that you listed above will still be hanging over their heads. I'm a Mizzou fan through thick and thin way down here on the west coast. That's why we lost out on the Orange Bowl bid to Kansas(football) who we beat a few years ago, because they knew Mizzou fans don't travel well. I respect the ones who support the team threw good and bad times.

Nope we need as many fans to get back on board as soon as possible. Mizzou Arena can be a good atmosphere, when the team is good and fans are engaged.

If you want to live on the surface and not critically look at things, that's your choice.
It's popular for people to validate themselves in an easy way with 'truths' like that instead of applying context and perspective to things -- one of the reasons political discussion is so polarized.
Nothing you shared is untrue, but most of it lacks context and perspective.
Not interested in giving you my energy for a full response. A lot of it would be a repeat of things I've said in other places on this board anyway.

I understood his bullet points, as to the problems here. Sorry, but not everything needs paragraphs of explanations.

There wasn't a contention that his bullet points weren't understandable.
The contention was that they lack perspective and context.

No, all teams need bandwagon fans. The hardcore ones will always care, but it's the bandwagoners that get the money and merch and attention flowing when a team is good.

The context is KA was woefully unprepared to coach Mizzou when he was hired. Sure, things weren't ideal. Most situations a new head coach inherits aren't ideal. That's why you get a new head coach. But there are plenty of coaches that would have done better, there was no need to become the absolute worst Mizzou team in modern history. One doesn't have to bottom out to succeed. And there's nothing in evidence that indicates that KA has what it takes to be successful at this. To be hopeful a team can be .500 in a fourth season (because no one believes .500 is happening this year) is absurd.
Nearly a half decade of Mizzou basketball wasted for no good reason other than some old idiots demanded KA be given the job.

Do not ever again use quotes from other people and reply to me.
Especially do not mix them with my actual quotes.
That's a real bush move.

I like to make one post when responding to multiple people.
Deal with it.

That's not how things work here. Deal with it.
The internet. Sigh. What a place it can be.

So reading your post critically, you basically said nothing. Did I get that right?
I get it. He pulled a Dick Vermeil. He did what they do in BUDS. First, KA came down and burned the mother down. After burning it down, he's building it up in the vision he has for the program. Yes, there's been strides. He's burned the mother fricker down not, not twice but working on three times. The problem is that it doesn't take that long to burn the program to the ground and rebuild it.
