Houston chronicle and espn are reporting they want to join with oklahoma.

They can both eat a dick. Although I do think OU joining would ultimately be good for MU, since OU would never make the playoffs if they were in a real conference and therefore wouldn't recruit MO as well

Does this mean the Longhorn network is a failure?

Based on the Nielsen DMA, the KC + StL markets would be the 4th largest market in the SEC after Dallas, Atlanta and Houston. If you wanted to combine all the Texas cities, it’d be the 5th largest. If Drink continues to recruit well, then we'll be fine.

I hate Texas so much that I would give the B1G a look before being in the same conference as them.

I will not go that far. When we originally talking to the B1G, I was all for it. That being said, I think we actually landed in a better spot.

The revenue, the recruiting, the national coverage, etc. I hate Texas as much as the next guy, but I don't think the SEC will let them pull the shite they pulled in the Big 12.

Probably would help our recruiting in Texas.

The only positive is that I can be in Norman in about an hour and a half. Austin is maybe 5. Columbia is about 8 hrs from where I am currently living.

Most or all schools realize it and just bc TX wants to be the main attraction doesn't mean they will be.

Here is my prediction on conference expansion. Just my thoughts...

Big 10 will offer Mizzou to gain 1 team and 2 markets. They then bolster their playoff teams by offering OU which has to include OSU. Making 3 teams and 3 markets acquired. Then they take Colorado and their market.

SEC responds by offering WV and Texas but Texas is tied to TTech. The SEC can't touch a ACC program because ESPN isn't going to let the SEC weaken the new ACC network.

I know everyone will bitch if we entertain leaving the SEC. But with the next expansion the Big 10 will pay more, and the school gets more research money.

Like with us and A&M, they’re viewing this from a football perspective. Looking at the bigger picture is not their strength.

Academics. We are the best of the 3 you mentioned, and darned close to losing our AAU status.

So they need what like four schools to say no right?

Mizzou
TAMU

...and who else would block it?

Texas is tethered to Tech. No way in hell anyone votes to give Texas and Tech full shares and also let Texas keep their Longhorn Network payout.

Next, does ESPN believe that adding Texas will add 50-60 million dollars in SEC network revenues. It would need to in order to justify taking Texas and Tech. Based on the Longhorn Network failure, that's a hard sell. All this is IMHO.

As much as I don’t want those jerks to ruin this excellent conference, and as much as I want to look back on history and see the two power conferences rejected them (big 10 & pac 12) in the last 10 years, I don’t think this leaks unless it’s got a real shot

We need to band together with two others give Texas the finger. I’d even be content adding OU and Okie Lite if it meant telling Texas to bugger off.
