Can't find anything official. Good for him. Typical Mizzou dropping the ball as usual.

North Texas isn't a bad place to move up the ladder as far as being an AD. A decent run there with solid Midwest ties puts your name out there for some good jobs.

Nah, that would be Jon Sundvold.

Congrats to Baker

People need to quit living in the past, that's how we got Kim Anderson.

Ill take Baker who is a man of his word. He has the patience, people skills, dedication and real life experience. Replaced a legandary coach and then his replacement after he suddenly died at his previous AD gig. He has been transparent about the Athletics department at Mizzou, he isn't running from the media. When he does sit down with the media, he gives some valuable information without showing his whole hand. He is hungery. If he does end up at UNT, it will be a short stay because he will move quickly to a power five school and Mizzou will regret it like usual.

I wouldn't be opposed to Baker, but I'm not upset that he's not the guy.

Glad handing boosters is essentially 80% of an ADs job, and I can't think of anyone who would resonate more with them than Sundvold. I'd have to think he would be one hell of a fundraiser and I can think of anyone I'd rather have hiring the next hoops coach.

It's not how we got Odom.

Odom went to Memphis and got a legit gig and produced. He then came back and interviewed for a job for which he was qualified.

Not even close to the same as Anderson.

I think Sundvold, who would ultimately do a good job, is a bit of a reach. We don't need to hire a guy who has no AD experience. We can. But we don't need to.

SO KA going somewhere else and winning a Natty doesn't count?

Don't be obtuse. He didn't go to even SEMO or Northern Iowa. He went to an MIAA school. It would be like arguing a guy who won an AAU championship deserved the Mizzou job.

ETA:
If Odom had not been hired by us, he would've been the D-coordinator at another SEC school or the coach at Memphis. You cannot find another power 5 D1 school that would have considered Anderson for a head coaching job or even for a lead assistant position. The same applies to Sundvold.

Why we are committed to hiring true sons with an exclusion to other qualifications is puzzling to me.

Ummmm the AAU coach may have been a better option. Better recruiting ties.

Because true sons are the only ones willing to come post-CS1950 or not use Mizzou as a stepping stone.

I don't see what's so bad about being used as a stepping stone. There's only 5 or 6 schools in D1 that aren't "stepping stones." If Texas comes calling, almost everyone is a "stepping stone." If someone can move up from here it means they did a good job here.

There is some truth to that right now especially, but Sundvold is a slam dunk hire anyway. The fact that he's an alum is a positive, but let's not act like he's just any alum. He's Mr Mizzou. If he can't get the money when he needs it then there simply isn't anyone who can.

I don't know anyone in the Mizzou circle who does not love the guy.

Matter had an article up the other day that cited several successful ADs that had no experience. Not a big deal in this position imo
