Which is why I think they really have to make a big splash with a new hire. Anderson might be a big splash with the fans, but I don't see a Mr. Basketball from Georgia being impressed with a Division 2 coach he's never heard of, even if he did win a NC.
I agree. I've made posts recently about how I used to follow Mizzou basketball with some real obsession. I've lost it since the Haith thing, I don't know why.
Forget Mr. Basketball from Georgia, I'd like a splash just for me to be interested. Show that it's a priority for the school and it may become a priority for me again.
I say this knowing full well how it sounds, but I'm as Mizzou as it gets without a degree from Mizzou and I haven't been able to get behind the program. It takes effort here for someone like me without cable. Finding where it will be shown, getting out of the house, going to a place, hopefully meeting with some people, etc. I haven't been able to do it. I don't think I'm alone, but I may be.

Ya and we'd probably would have lost in the first round to Middle Montana A&M Technical College.

Alright MIZ_COU, I won't give up on them just yet, but only because your screenname follows the same convention as mine. I don't actually think the 2 recruits that haven't even matriculated at Mizzou have any reason not to back out of the LOIs, and I suspect JW3 and Clark will see no point in staying once the Class of 2015 disappears.

They won't be Gant and Wright caliber. Jones, Rosburg, NWC caliber is about as good as we can hope for. That's not the formula for a winning team.
Uh...Jones, Rosburg and NWC were Haith recruits.

You could be right. I'm just not ready to panic yet

Speaking of which, I've been meaning to ask. COU, are you a pilot?
Posted on 4/17/14 at 6:16 pm to MIZ_STL
You're saying the best recruits we can hope for is the level at which Haith recruited. And somehow that triggers the downfall of our basketball program for the foreseeable future.
Posted on 4/17/14 at 6:18 pm to MIZ_COU
Gotcha. I figured that was the case. Pretty rare to know someone that knows CoMo is really COU.

No, Haith also recruited Brown, Clarkson, JW3, Clark, Gant, Wright, Bello, Cam, Ross, and Oriakhi.
But, I guess all those facts don't fit the Haith is a bad recruiter meme.

Isn't the real meme that Haith is bad at everything but recruiting?

Actually, that is the meme. You're right. Thats why i was wondering what your point was...
Anyway, I'll be the first to admit I have issues with his in game coaching skills. But, now was the worst possible time to lose him, regardless of his shortcomings.

Transfers
Brown
Clarkson
Bello
Ross
Oriakhi
Cam
Not on campus
Wright
Gant
Potential 4-year Recruits
JWIII (Freshman)
Clark (Freshman)
I'm not saying he was a horrible recruiter. I'm not sure he was a good team recruiter - recruiting for pieces of the puzzle instead of just highly-rated players.

I wasn't participating in a meme. I was just asking. As I mentioned, I don't follow the basketball team much until they're on the floor. I know that the reason being spread around for all the transfers was the even out the classes for the future. Now that Haith is jumping, I was wondering if that had proven successful or if we're going to be in the same situation with this next guy.

We've gone down this road plenty of times before. The pieces problem was a direct result of his evening the classes strategy. That strategy didn't work perfectly. It worked very well, but not perfectly. Based on his recent recruiting, it was pretty obvious Haith had identified that problem and was working on fixing it. I was excited about the possibilities.

Ah sorry, the "what was your point" comment was part of my back and forth with 808. Sorry for directing it at you.
On topic: The answer to your question depends entirely on what the next coach wants to do. When he arrives, we'll have very few players on scholarship, so the strategy is his to formulate.
