Just saw this on Twitter...
quote:

@DavidCMorrison: The Springfield News-Leader has reported that Mauk's father, Mike, will undergo surgery Monday as part of his colorectal cancer treatment.

Hope and prayers for a successful surgery and healing. And prayers for his family. This has to be in Maty's head.

I haven't read much about the situation but I thought I had heard his cancer was at a serious(high severity) stage, don't know if the operation is a good sign that they might have a high chance of success, or more of a "hail mary" but either way, wish him the best.

((Sorry for the no message to start, on a truly crappy internet connection right now.))

I wish him and his family the best. Cancer is such an evil affliction.

Thoughts and prayers to the senior Mauk.

Let this serve as a reminder to get checked regularly after age 50. (Age 40 if it's in your family history).

Colon cancer is literally one of the easiest forms to stave off through regular screening. And if someone in your family tree has had it (parent, grandparent, uncle/aunt), that's your warning shot to get checked.

I lost my mom a few years back because she missed here warning shot (her mother's brother) and it was unrelenting in it's ability to metastasize throughout the body. Very, very depressing. She made us promise to get checked so her misfortune (and our warning shot) wouldn't be neglected.

A colonoscopy isn't a big deal. Drink some crap, diarrhea for a day, take a nap, wake up. Just do it.

Prayers for the Mauk family.

40 is creeping ever closer for me and it runs in my family.

My aunt die of this when I was a little girl. My mom gets checked regularly. I haven't yet; but will talk to my doctor about it.
