I would look at Scott Symons - SMU

Started looking into him and he is becoming an intriguing target. From Texas, and being the SMU DC gives us deeper ties within Texas even though we also have Luper. But Symons played at Lindenwood so he understands STL at least a little bit so he should be able to recruit just fine there. Also has experience coaching Safeties/Linebackers so could take over the role Baker had pretty seamlessly.

Of the names being thrown out at this time Symons or Leonhard look to be the best of what we would get. Bama and Auburn and who knows who else in the near future will be looking for coordinators. I do not think Bama would go after these two but I can see them going after Muschamp. Auburn alumni is probably looking for a bigger name DC.

If they end up with Symons, and the rumor of Peoples leaving, Id be pretty happy if Symons brought his Dline coach with him. Guy spent 6 years at OU as DE/Dline coach before going to SMU.

Baker is making a hard push for him. Hopefully Drink locks it down.

If Peoples stays I'm dropping a couple of stink bombs in that rabbit hole.

I think he would be gone if he was going. LSU hired Davis from UT for the Dline. Are they wanting another?

They can have 2, interior and edge if they want. Some teams split the LBs. We do interior and edge DL.

Jim Leonhard is all but gone to Colorado. USC is also hot after him.

Baker probably wanted Peoples to go with him, but he couldn’t promise him the DL. With Davis hired the rumor is they are paying him $1.25 million to coach the interior linemen and want Peoples to coach the DE’s.

Peoples will probably take the money especially if he doesn’t like the DC hire. If it doesn’t work out a good DL coach can always find a new job

Davis and Peoples on the DL in theory sounds great, but 2 DL coaches could be an example of to many rooster’s in the hen house.
