Yeah, I don't know how you can have 2 guys averaging almost 20 points per game and be so bad. It's pathetic really.

I lost interest after Norm left. Even when we've had good teams, they just haven't been as interesting to watch.

The 2012 team that went 30-5 can be called many things, but I would submit to you that most would certainly call them interesting to watch. I'm as big a Norm worshipper as you will find, and I think that 2012 team was more interesting to watch play the game of basketball than a whole lot of Norm teams. Hell, I'd go so far as to call the 2012 team extremely fun to watch.

Although I'm definitely in the camp of thinking we have too much talent to play the way we are right now, I would say scoring distribution doesn't really have much to do with how good a team is. You could just as easily argue that we would be a lot better if we DIDN'T have two guys averaging 20 points and instead had a more balanced distribution coming from multiple spots (cough, frontcourt, cough cough). The Chicago Bulls were actually a whole lot better team when Michael Jordan wasn't going out there scoring 50 and when he instead had Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant et al contributing too.

I don't disagree ATX and that was kind of my point in a backwards way. The other aspects of this TEAM are so bad that having 2 20 point scorers don't lead to wins.

Don't feel bad, we go on the road tomorrow @ Georgia, so we'll probably have that loss in common.

It's frustrating to watch crap that just doesn't make any sense.

That was a fun team, but I would argue it was a anderson/haith hybrid, and an example of what an anderson team could do if they were allowed to play. By the time the tourney came around haith's lack of structure had taken over.

That's completely unfair. The team played some of its best basketball of the season and dominated the Big 12 tournament just days earlier. It had one bad game against Norfolk but the "lack of structure" was by no means a culprit in that loss - lack of defense and rebounding was.

I get that people have their pitchforks out for Haith right now but going overboard with revisionist history to justify the position that Haith sucks at everything just isn't cool. Neither is kneejerk stuff. I am hopeful that we aren't at a point where we have fans rooting against Mizzou to win on days like today b/c in their minds they think it would expedite Haith getting fired (it won't) but sadly I'll bet that's where we are at with some people.

Personally, I just want to keep making the NCAA tournament and competing every year regardless of who the coach is. Cuz I like seeing Mizzou basketball succeed. This team still has a shot at the Dance, so I'm pulling for it to make it and will keep supporting them until they fail to do so.

We could get Crews. We'd also get the same players Crews is getting at SLU.

And at some point, Jimmies and Joes matter as much as Xs and Os.

We got the worst possible matchup we could've. We got matched up with a really tall team with some NBA talent on it. And the NBA talent played like NBA talent and beat a dinged up team.

I'm ok with that loss, unfortunately.

I'm not ok with anything that happened last year. It was god awful. Pressey and Haith had some sort of nightmare relationship where Haith couldn't tell him to do a single thing. And Keion Bell looked like he'd be willing to kill some of his teammates at various points of the year. And then they just didn't even show up for the tournament.

It was inexcusable. An incredibly talented team finished 6th or so in the SEC and lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Inexcusable.

This year's team had to know that they were not going to win on pure talent. They have to scrap and claw and shoot well. But they're still just rolling it out there. They haven't showed any heart (until today) since well before Christmas. That's on the coach.

Personally, I want to win something. At least make a Final Four. Improve on the same old same old. If not being impressed with just making the tourney makes me spoiled, then so be it, I'm spoiled because that just doesn't satisfy me. Hopefully Haith can get that done some time. If it is, I'd say it's 3 years away. Clark and JW3 are seniors, Gant and Wright are juniors and all have played in the program for 3 or 4 years. Just not going to happen with rent-a-players.

In the meantime, even though I think this team has little to no chance of making the tourney, I will root for them to do so.

Haith's brand of ball is scarily similar to Suitcase Mike's brand. As in you don't win much
playing his way.

Haith is also in danger of wearing out his welcome about as fast at Anderson did.

Do you realize that Haith had only two returning players last year? Pressey and Bowers. This years team has no players who have been here for more than two years. This being their second season. How many coaches could have made the tourney the last two years with what Haith inherited?

Well I think it's unfair to call that unfair. It may be incorrect but its not unfair.
And it's absolutely revisionist. I wouldn't have said it then, but looking back that's how it seems.

I haven't even formed an opinion of Haith until now and I don't have my pitchfork out. I was predicting a mizzou victory over bama on the board yesterday. Haith seems like a personable guy, and he's a good recruiter, but his teams look disorganized on the court to me on both ends. It isn't really fun to watch. I also haven't said fire haith once (which isn't going to happen anyway), but maybe he could get some good x and o's asst. coaches and let them run practice, al la Pinkle.

I'd like to see us occasionally compete for the conference and the final four like we used to. Or at least play up to the level of talent we have on the floor.

That unfortunately has always been the hallmark of mizzou bball. They peak in the conf. tournament instead of the NCAA. If you look at the other top coaches their teams are just kind of on cruise control in the conf tourney while they rest for the dance. I remember an interview Gary Leonard gave years after he played where he said by the time the NCAA came around everbody had lost 20 pounds and was exhausted.

Crews ain't going to Mizzou. He's only at SLU because of a perfect storm. He wants to be retired. He went to SLU as an assistant because he was friends with Majerus. Majerus got sick and Crews took over and when Majerus died, Crews took over on an interim basis. Problem was he did so well at SLU he could hardly say no to continuing on.
