I think KC is a lot like St Louis was prior to the Blues first season. I can see hockey taking root there the same way it did in St Louis. Good sports fans are good sports fans. KC has good sports fans. An owner with the right chops could come in there and with a well run organization do very well IMO. All you have to do is run the franchise correctly. A great building to play in is already there and built. I wish I had a cool 500 mil laying around...

Fair enough, you're probably right. Like I said, I would be beyond excited for an NHL franchise in KC, I just have my doubts about the financial aspect of it. But if somebody with the necessary funds was willing to gamble on KC, I'd take it in a heartbeat.

This. I'm not saying people couldn't learn to like hockey here, but it sure as hell isn't worth 500 million to this city.

In St. Louis, things like hockey, field hockey, lacrosse, and other east-coast sports are common and popular. Those sports hardly exist in KC so I have my doubts about bringing a hockey team here. I'd rather the NBA, and I know that most Kansas Citians feel the same.

Case in point, the NHL lasted 2 seasons in Kansas City. The NBA only lasted 10, but still. An NHL franchise that only survives 2 seasons in a city before moving is not a good sign.

I think people would be excited...but not TOO excited. Hockey just isn't a popular thing in KC. We all know the Sprint Center was built for this kind of thing...but NBA is way more preferable, just in terms of popularity. kU ensures that KC is a basketball town.

I'm not sure it would catch on, and for 500 mil..no way. I'm also not sure if KC could sustain a 4th pro team.

I'm not too worried. Vegas, Quebec are top of the list, followed by Seattle and Portland, and then a 2nd Toronto team....so I doubt we were going to get one anyway.

I generally make it to KC 4-5 times per year for various events. I would not make the trip for NHL (or NBA).

Just wondering what the thinking is there in KC about trying to land an NHL expansion franchise since the NHL announced its opening up the process for expansion of the NHL.

No thanks.

One of my friends lives in the area, and goes to a few Blues games.I think they have played exibition games at Sprint Center in the past.I've followed them since I was a kid.

I don't, and I don't know anyone who does. To each their own of course, but I literally know of zero people who like watching the Blues or hockey in general.
