The O line didn't look bad against FL like it did against Indiana through UGA. WR's continue to have trouble getting separation, but are overthrown or not seen when they do. There are many problems, Mauk being one of them, but I refuse to believe my own eyes that everything is peachy on offense except the QB.

I just disagree with you, and his post confirms my thoughts. Aside from the thing you mentioned, he's been right on everything else and many people had the Big 10 thing wrong.

So when he mentions coaches grade sheets, yeah I'm going to believe him. Especially when it's clear from watching the games on my own.

You just roundly dismiss the notion because it isn't "reasonable" to blame the QB.

I have been pretty clear from my first post in your thread calling for Printz in the vandy game that I place some of the blame on Mauk. My only argument in that thread at the beginning is I wasnt sure that would give us the best chance to win given the systemic and skill issues in other areas of our offense.

What I dont think is "reasonable" is to make statements like these:

"Its 90% a QB problem"
"We would be undefeated with Franklin this year"

So, no, I dont think its reasonable to place all the blame on the QB. You have just developed so much tunnel vision on the QB's problems that you failed to acknowledge that I said Mauk wasnt playing well because I also included the issues with our OL and WR as contributing factors to the offensive issues.

I just listened to Pollack on ESPN radio in St Louis and he pretty much reiterates what many before have said in that Mauk has issues but the whole offense outside the running game does as well and that all contributes to the whole of the problems.

Well, of course he "isn't playing well". I thought that pretty much goes without saying. He's turned in 3 of the 5 worst QB grades in Pinkel's tenure all in consecutive weeks. That's a little worse than not playing well.

So yeah, I firmly believe that the QB is the VAST majority of our issues and with an effective game manager (Franklin) we'd likely be undefeated. I stand by that.

Ok so you agree I said he wasnt playing well. So why are you focused on trying to call me out for saying or thinking otherwise?

I think its fairly reasonable for those that have watched this offense this year that we are lacking in talent in our WR and that our OL has had scheme and talent issues pass blocking to go along with Mauks poor play.

Look, you can think what you want. The reality is that there is PLENTY of blame to go around for our offensive woes. You want to pretty much solely blame the QB. Knock yourself out. I think its stupid.

Fair enough. I think it's accurate and apparently so do the coaches.

only non-pinkelized coach would be Washington, Ricker might not like the OL getting so much blame when the truth is the HC is trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying he always plays a backup QB for a few series per games; that's only when he has an outgoing senior and he knows he's going to have to break in the new guy. In 2009, Gabbert took all the snaps w/exception of 3 mop-up games. In 2011, Franklin was the QB the whole season, no backup work. In 2012, Berkstresser wouldn't have played if Franklin were hurt.

Mauk has been a terrible game manager the last 4 games really, but he only attempted two passes against FL in the 2nd half...not sure how he was supposed to lead the offensive to a ton of yards when the game plan was "WE WILL WIN BY A LOT AS LONG AS YOU DON'T HAND THE OTHER TEAM THE BALL."

I'm going to assume if Printz doesn't get any playing time this year, Printz is gone after the season. If I'm him, and I see the QB job was handed to MM before spring and now I can't even see the field in a game where the starter throws for 20 yards, I'd have to believe that I would never be given a chance. He gone. Better hope either Mauk can figure it out or that Lock is all he's billed to be.

Great post. Why is Printz even on the roster if Pinkel won't play him after this three week shitshow?

The OL and WR play this year has been bad. I dont know how anyone can say differently. Its just bad.

I have said before and will say it again, Mauk is part of the problem. I dont think Printz will give us a better chance to win given his skill set and inexperience when combined with the other large issues on this offense.

Yes. OLine and WR are part of the problem and have been addressed with playing time adjustments.

I love Mauk, but he flat out sucks right now.

Is it even possible for Printz to be worse?

I think Mauk is 85% at fault.
WR's are 10% at fault.
OL is 5% at fault.

I think it's more 83% Mauk.
10% WRs.
5% OL
2% Ebola

The worst that can happen is what's happening at UF right now. Boom pulled Driskel, threw in Harris and he ends up not doing much better.

Say Pinkel finally pulls the plug on Maty, and Printz goes out and throws 2 picks. It would be quite the shiteshow. GP would be stuck between a rock and a hard place.

That being said, I am all for giving Printz a chance.

No it sucks regardless. Pinkel just isn't one to take risks/potentially create drama in the locker room.
Like I said, I think it can't get much worse, so there's not any harm in throwing Printz in.

Not necessarily at you MALtigers, but what is this infatuation with Printz? Mizzou has a very capable backup in Berk ready to come in with game experience. It's too early to throw Printz to the wolves. Berk deserves another chance. He has stayed the course and not jump ship like other QB's have. Like with what is being said about Printz, can equally be said about Berk. He can't do much worse than MM. Give him a shot. He's won games at this level. Berk can allow the offense the ability to do other things on offense besides hand off the ball or throw the ball. He can get you those tough yards with his legs.

As we all know, GP can be pretty anal about changes.

I don't believe it has anything to do with Printz's abilities. Pinkel won't play Printz, because he thinks Mauk needs more confidence, and that's Gary's key to improvement. Like it or not.

Only if Mauk had the same kind of day Jeff Driskel had, is when we'll see Printz in the game.
