Monroe City is the powerhouse high school program of all teams playing for a state championship. Monroe City was dominant in the '90s and last appeared in a title game in 2001.

They're back!

Interesting factoid: Monroe City is a small town of about 2,000 people but they just built a $3 million AstroTurf field. Kind of ridiculous but it's just another example that if you invest in facilities high level success soon follows.

Mizzou should take note.

Penney beat them 47-14 btw.

Vianney won C5 over FZN in another big blowout.

Also, playing the games at Plaster in Springfield sucks.

Cousin was a senior on that Lamar team. Won 4 titles all four years playing ball. That's crazy.

Correct. Penney whooped their arse.

But, from a program perspective, Monroe City has been to several state championships in the past 30 years and won several championships.

From a program perspective, Monroe City was the "Alabama" of the state championship teams in all classes.

They just ran up against an incredible one off in Penney.

All props to Penney. They were by far the better team.

But Penney isn't the better program.

Webb City is the Alabama of Missouri High School Football.

They have the state championships, players play D1, players go to the NFL, a great coaching tree, the facilities, and the fan base.

Before the year started they had won 88 out of their last 90 games. One of their losses was to a 7A school from Arkansas (Har-Ber) a few years ago and the other last years state championship game(Kearney).

You don't think Monroe City has state championship titles?

L...O...L

But I do agree about Webb City. Forgot about them. They are the Bama of Missouri high school teams.

But that means Monroe City is the Ohio State or Florida of Missouri high school teams

Webb City took a huge step back this year, but they are always winning state. Not a very big town but housed rockhurst back to back years.

For Class 1A (at one time 2A) Monroe City is the equivalent of Webb City...

kills, I know you like to stir the pot. Perhaps this was just another one of those efforts. But, your statements are incorrect, no matter how you look at it.

Of the 28 teams I looked up records for (27 teams with 3 or more titles plus Monroe City):

27 teams have won more state titles than Monroe City's 2. Leaders in that category:
1. Valle Catholic - 14 titles
2. Webb City - 13 titles
3. Jefferson City - 10 titles
4. John Burroughs - 9 titles
4. Rockhurst - 9 titles

17 teams have more playoff wins than Monroe City's 33.
Leaders in that category:
1. Webb City - 86 wins
2. Valle Catholic - 79 wins
3. John Burroughs - 69 wins
4. Jefferson City - 68 wins
5. Rockhurst - 66 wins

20 teams had a better playoff winning percentage than Monroe City's 61%.
Leaders in that category:
1. Valle Catholic - 92%
2. Webb City - 86%
3. Lamar - 85%
4. John Burrough's - 85%
5. Penney - 81%

For teams that have competed (and won) in Class 1 and Class 2, both Penney and Valle Catholic dwarf Monroe City's credentials.

You know that you are the Bama of a state when you win 9 games and your district and it is a huge step back.

They lost two games this year to 4A schools. I think that is the same amount they lost to 4A schools in the past 7 or 8 years.

Valle Catholic has a similar resume in 1A.

Lamar has a similar resume in 2A over the past 15 years.

Big 8 is a tough confrence. In the last 9 years they have had 9 state champs and one runner-up.
