Mizzou still beats Georgia

I am normally hard on Mizzou because I see the potential, but even after yesterday’s game that team showed me something. Acy was the catalyst to the back end which balanced both corner positions and helped coverage on the back end. With him out, wide eyed freshmen on the road played like it with Ware and Petry seeing a lot of snaps.
Up front, we do need a more consistent pass rush but I think scheme played a major part in lack of overall pressure as well.
On Saturday we will play a team who is committed to being physical and running the ball to open their playbook. I think we will match up well enough on the back end to keep things in front of them and our rush D will step up to compete.
Georgia has not been tested vertically with the weapons we have. A buddy of mine who played both in the SEC and professionally as a scout team player was telling me how his circle believes this will be a matchup nightmare for Kirby because of Roquan’s absence in their back seven. The expectation is our TE’s and WR’s can eat this game.
Also for whatever reason, people believe in Barry as a coach outside of Missouri too. My buddy was telling me he would be one of the highest paid D coordinators for most programs within 2 years if we let him go. I think the issue is talent and evaluation and not scheme in most cases.

Lol...nope.
Would take something close to a miracle.
I will say this, our Pass D is probably not THAT bad but unfortunately it's still bad. We can't get a pass rush which is most concerning. I had actually thought the secondary was starting this season off much better than last but they completely erased all of that progress last night.

Obviously we will see and you may be right, but my buddy and his friends are normally dialed in with what’s going on at most schools in the conference. They all either played for Kirby, Champ, or Saban and they still have close ties to a large portion of the college/high school football community in the south. It’s interesting to hear their stories and how all these coaches rotated through places from Jacksonville St. through LSU/Bama/Auburn together.
They truly believe the back seven is extremely vulnerable with that loss at MLB for Georgia and although we may be less talented, we are still not as bad as what we showed Saturday on the defensive side. Also talked about how we turned a corner, because under Odom “we lose those type of games”.
It’s one of those things when a coach says 4 games you play at your capable potential, 4 games you play below your potential, and 4 games you exceed your potential. Last night was one where we played below our capabilities and still won.
I am just being a fan and looking for any hope at this point lol. Maybe there is something to it and this turns into a shootout like the Rose Bowl.

Oh, we can definitely stress their defense. Our passing game is very legit. Nobody can cover Hall (hope he's healthy) and the rest of our WR corps played very well with him out of the game.
We probably won't be able to run much and we won't be able to slow them down at all. Play action just kills us and they do a lot of that.
I can see it being similar to last year. 50 something to 20 something. Might be close at halftime.
Losing to Georgia doesn't ruin our season though.

Mecole Hardeman is going to have a huge game next week. Fromm will have plenty of time to throw unless MU mixes the fronts up and brings 5 behind twists in the B Gaps.
Williams has shown zero ability to transition from speed to power in his pass rush. An OT can either kick and be light on his feet or sit and be strong. They can't be both. Williams should have been bending the corner all night on Purdue and allowed the OT to get his hands on and stone him. Having to bring a LB for pressure was a given at the beginning of the season but Williams has been a huge disappointment through 3 games with 0.5 TFLs.

Definitely value your opinion on this Navy.

No shot against UGA. I still expect Mizzou to lose the next 3 games. Just like I did before the season. And finish with 7 or 8 wins.

Realistic. I also think we'll lose a close track meet to KY.
Unless we find a free agent to replace Hilton and stay absolutely injury free in the backfield. Then we can win a close track meet with KY.

Memphis will also be a shootout

We can beat every team on our schedule aside from Georgia and Bama. Do not see any way we lose to Arkansas or Tennessee so that puts us anywhere between 5-10 wins.
I'll say we get somewhere in the middle of that 7-8.

No shot at USC? Is it because we are on the road, because from what I have seen South Carolina has exploitable issues as well.

We can definitely beat SC. It won't be easy and the Pass D has to be much better but we can absolutely beat that team.

We pull UGA into a shootout because of 2 quick touchdowns and win by a field goal 38-35

I think we're pretty solid if we're being candid here. UGA has Baker and Reed back there. Both are All SEC performers. Lecount and Campbell have both been solid back there as well this year. The glaring weakness right now is our pass coverage by the LBs and the lack of a dominant pass rush.
I also feel like the noon game time will play into favor for UGA since it will keep the Mizzou crowd from being as rowdy as a night game.
We do have a very competent vertical passing game. We just haven't had to use it much since we are a ground and pound offense.
I'm not really sure how this game plays out. I feel like Missouri is a really solid team both on offense and defense. However, UGA is playing lights out right now.

Oh no doubt your back end is solid. The talent and coaching speaks for itself. We are nitpicking what disadvantages a team like Georgia has similar to pointing out Alabama’s back end and kicking game.
Outside of Baker I was told the back seven would be the best opportunity a strong passing team could exploit. Especially since you are missing guys like Thompson and Carter up front to get the pressure you use to get and also replacing a key communicator and eraser at MLB.

If we're talking most glaring need then it would be the mid passing game. Our LBs are lacking in pass coverage.
