On that list at #14 is Dave Aranda who was at Wisconsin. Did he go to Oregon State with Anderson? Would he consider the SEC? Would he have inroads into those B1G recruits?

Stec seems like a great coach and the D is always highly ranked however he didn't have any answers in the title games.

We have a chance to upgrade, here's hoping they don't frick it up! Personally I think Bo is a tool and hope they don't go that route.

Go Tigers!!

I'm pretty sure hell would have to freeze over before Pinkel would ever hire bobo. I just don't see those two getting along at all.

Did you miss the line about having the 3rd ranked defenses with LSU? That's in the SEC. Ranked 3rd nationally for three years straight.

Sometimes it takes and ahole to get things done.

It won't be Pelini. From a coaching and recruiting aspect, he'd be an asset, until he became an asshat again. Also suspect there's some residual bad blood there from the Big 12 days.

They'll likely promote from within (coach Kul) and hire a new position coach with SEC recruiting ties, or they'll bring Odom back.

Actually, I think I'd be ok with any of these three scenarios, I just don't think Pelini will be contacted.

Here's the morning column of David Morrison On Odom breaking down his coaching pedigree. LINK

He would seem to be a home run hire, but if it came at the cost of Coach Kul the price would be too great.

Actually with his track record of success I'm surprised an NFL team hasn't made a run at Kuligowski.

My guess: I've said before that I think GP is gone after next year. He just won Coach of the Year in SEC, he's getting married next month (to a society blonde) He pays his ex $250,000/yr "for as long as he is the head football coach at the University of Missouri", He knows he ain't gonna beat the bigs in the conference, and he's in his 60s.

Now, you think Steck hasn't talked this all over with GP? If GP is staying a while, Steck is making $600K while the former MSU coach made just over $100K. Steck may not be kept with a coaching change at MU...and he's been a bridesmaid at 83 different schools over the years.

I say Steck is grabbing at a chance to be the top dog (with no better offers out there)...and getting out while the getting's good.

But, of course, this didn't come from my chat with GP over a couple jumbo drinks.

Thanks. I've been following Odom since he left the staff. When he went to Memphis to be DC, I actually thought if he did well he could be a potential replacement for Steck, if Steck moved on for some reason. As long as they can keep coach Kul on board and happy, I'd be more than fine with Odom.

As I mentioned on the related thread on the Rant main board, one of the upsides to promoting coach Kul is the opportunity to bring some fresh blood on to the staff, hopefully a new position coach with contacts and a proven track record of recruiting in SEC areas. We don't know how the staff changes will shake out at UF, but there should be someone available from that d-staff when the smoke clears there who should fit that bill.

wow, it's like theres an echo in here or something!

Peelini is definitely a non starter, even though he would be the best defensive coach MU has had since Al Onofrio's days.

I'd be a little surprised if Kul doesn't want the promotion, but if he doesn't then he doesn't. He will still be the next Assistant HC at Mizzou, or should be, assuming Pinkel doesn't promote his nephew instead..

Kul seems like he has the mind for the job, he's good motivationaly with his own unit, he played both offense and defensive line in college. He started football late switching from band to football in HS so he picked up the game quickly. Everything I've read and seen from him says he's the most capable and should be next in line on the staff and we know Pinkel likes to maintain his circle of trust.

Hill is already an Asst HC, there is no reason Kul wouldn't be the next one, assuming he want's it, and even IF he didn't take the DC job. On TB they were pushing the idea of Odom and Kul as co-DC's, in this case that might actually work, the money would probably be "close enough" and Kul and Odom have worked together before.

So 3 of those 14 are unemployed. What a difference a year makes.

Odom article

Not so much about the Mizzou position or anything but more talking about his prospects as a head coach and the job he has done at Memphis.

Reading that article and the relationship he has with older Ofodile, it makes me wonder what could have been if younger Ofodile had held off on making a decision.

remember when the 2 kids from Rock Bridge went to UGA?

yea, see, nobody else does either.

It is interesting that Odom has taken Memphis D from beaker level to top 50 in the country though, it's not like he went in and just maintained the status quo.

Here's a name..Randy Shannon.

Former LB at Miami then DC and Head Coach. had a hell of a defense when he was DC. Now at Arky as LB coach. Can be DC and coach LB just like Steckel. Born, raised and played in florida so he can recruit the area as easy as breathing.
