He developed some really good relationships with TX HS coaches from his time here according to some of our insiders. He has a few guys on staff (mainly Nick Toth) who did some solid work recruiting for us as well.

I don't think there's any chance Alden would hire Petrino. He won't want the PR risks. And I always heard Petrino was not a good recruiter - that is key for us right now. Tressel would be more likely, but I still think that's a long shot.

Think about what Alden values - he likes having a clean program, kids with good character, strong academics, good PR. He's had some nightmares with Quin and Pinkel's shenanigans last year. I don't think anyone expects the football coach to be a choir boy, but I expect him to look for someone clean cut with a lot of positive energy to be the face of the program. I think the curators would nix the petrino idea right out of the gate.

I just hope he doesn't go overboard with that train of thought. Saban probably wouldn't fit that vision.

Saban also doesn't have any high-profile incidents of questionable morals or character in his background either. They don't have to be an angel, just not an embarrassment.

Bobby Boucher Defensive Coordinator for South Central Louisiana St.

He has the Mudbugs playing tough D. An SEC type D.

Now if Coach Klein retires Boucher may take that job and stay home close to his "Mama"

I hear he is one hell of a foosball coach. Keeps his players well hydrated. Has a hot team motto.

"You can do it."

Is this a serious comment?

Guess I should clarify - Saban has never had a show-cause, and to my knowledge he doesn't ride a motorcycle.

1st of all, I'm hoping that Pinkel can right the ship, finish this recruiting class out with some 4 stars and start building. However, if he can't get at least 8 wins this year then we need to go a different direction.

IF this happens, I say we go for the hailmary. The MINUTE that we decide that Pinkel will not be coaching next season, they need to be on the phone with all of the top donors, tell them they we need to be able to pay 6 mil/year over 6 years and go after Gruden. JMO though and don't think there's any chance that our AD or board would do that though...but nothing says you're serious about your football program more than offering one of the best in the business more than any other college coach.
