He appears to have made every defense better at every stop, and had players earn awards at every stop.

I see his D likes to generate negative plays and turnovers. Seems like a fit for the aggressive style we ran under Baker.

Also seems like a guy that will stick around for awhile.

Had tied to recruiting under Freeze Ole Miss tenure which had some talent for sure. Knows the SEC landscape. I’ll remain cautiously optimistic.

I'm not disliking the hire. Nor am I doing backflips of joy either.

I'll like if more if DJ Smith stays on.

This hire is good because no one will want to pry him away any time soon.

Found this little gem from Drink:

quote:

“Our intent from the start of this search was to identify a leader for our death row defense who has proven success as a coordinator, and equally as important, is aligned with the philosophy of our defense,” Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz said in Saturday's press release. “

Sounds like he's underpaid when compared to other DCs

Maybe other DCs are overpaid?

Considering he has zero experience calling a defense in the SEC or P5.

He's not underpaid

He was making closer to $300k at South Alabama. He’s happy to be here.

If he does well, he’ll get commensurate raises.

Everyone is overpaid but the market has been set; see Baker at $2.5M.
