Early in the week I was saying with all the happenings at Missouri lately and the awful results of the last coaching search Alden could literally be going to them with candidates to get pre-approval (due to reputations or salary amount) and narrowing it down from there or any number of things.

That would assume he hasn't really interviewed anyone. I don't think that's true.

Not really, he could have already touched base with them to make sure they have answers for all his questions.
The amount of flak he received for the Haith hire though makes this process very delicate. Toss in the issues with haith thereafter, all the legal issues kids have been having lately.
He could have vetted the coaches, look good to him, now he takes them to the board so he doesn't get his wee wee smacked again this time around before pressing forward.
