How does his dismissal effect the season? You think we will see more 3-4 than we previously thought?

Pete Scantlebury @PeteScantlebury
Just got the confirmation text from Chad Moller -- Marcus Loud has been dismissed from #Mizzou football program.

Pete Scantlebury @PeteScantlebury
#Mizzou's defensive end situation gets murkier with Loud's dismissal. A lot riding on Marcell Frazier being ready to play, plus RS FR.

We'll have to, it's only Frazier and Harris now, the rest are RS or True freshman. I always had high hopes for Loud, hope he gets his act together.

If Beckner comes in like a house on fire then Brantley could play some DE. But Frazier the JC kid from this year recruiting class is going to get some playing time anyway. He get's more now.

I think there's definitely drop off from Loud to Frazier. Frazier can make most of it up though.

Loud was better imo though, if he could have stayed

I heard that RF Williams and Brady were looking pretty good

Frazier isn't on campus yet. How do we know how good he can be/is?

Is a hit to depth as he by all accounts had a great spring.

Coming the week after the semester ended I am betting this had to do with academics.

I am optimistic still. In my personal opinion Loud was a one trick pony after his initial bull rush gets stymied. I do understand Loud had upside with his frame and matriculation through Coach Kool's tutelage. I definitely wish the young man well in his future endeavors.

Maybe he is better, but Loud has just been at DE U 3 years already, so that's what I based my assumption on.

This is not good. No way to spin it.

It absolutely hurts our depth. No way to spin it. The flip side is, frankly, if we were going to lose a DE, he would have been the one I picked. I don't know what the RS Freshmen or Freshmen have to offer but I'm willing to take a flyer that it is more than what I saw from Loud. Harris, who was as raw as raw gets, surpassed him IMO and that tells ya something. I also remember his tweets from mid to late season last year.

I just don't see it as losing talent as much as it is a matter of losing depth at a position we were already rail thin at.

Where this may have a bigger impact is if Beckner can't get himself eligible. Having Beckner contributing on the inside gives you more depth there to move more guys outside.

Well, my point was is that I wouldn't pick ANY DE to lose. We don't have the depth. Harris is the only experienced DE we have at this point. I'm not sure we can count on any of the RSFR to be ready to play at a high level, and Frazier...who the hell knows.

Yeah we could probably slide Hatley or Brantley outside, but Hatley is just a guy out there and Brantley is our best DT. Don't see how that helps us.

Also, I think you are underselling Loud. He truly had a great Spring. Better than Harris in fact and looking like the light may have come on.

Now our options are Harris, a JUCO, 3 RSFR that likely aren't ready to be anything more than backups or chopping a leg off of our DT depth. What if someone gets hurt?

It's a big blow. It just is.

I agree with you 100% on the depth issue. As for experience, no denying he had some, but he barely had some. I also don't know if I'd call his spring great. It was certainly solid. Just don't know about great.

Do agree. It is a big blow, but I think more so in numbers than in the amount of talent being lost. And that's not minimizing it at all. Losing numbers when we were already thin is a big deal.

I'd be shocked because of the lack of depth at DE, but is it possible that it has anything to do with the fact that I think we still had to free up a scholarship or two?

Pretty sure he had multiple sacks in at least two of the scrimmages, including the spring game, and led the team for the spring.

We have developmental guys at DE and he was coming to the point of where it usually starts to pay off. Don't think any of the RSFR are at that point, but certainly hope I'm wrong. We need at least one of those guys to be productive right now and we really can't afford any injuries.

We could just stick Agbasimere out there on passing downs and let OTs try to block him at 220lbs!

Morrison article on Loud and a scholarship breakdown. Still have to cut 1.

Per Morrison, he had 3 sacks over the course of 4 scrimmages. That's solid, I just don't know I call it great. Especially when the defense usually dominates the offense anyways in the spring. We're probably splitting hairs though.

During the season, he had .5 sacks on the season. Played about 13 snaps a game. Got beat out by Hatley and fell to #3 before the season, regained the #2 a couple of weeks later, lost it to Hatley again and fell to #3 at the end of the season, including the game against Bama but won the #2 back for the bowl game. At least according to Morrison.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him or Howard get a shot as a true freshman at this point.

Brady & Frazier are the guys that this helps the most.

Brady didn't get to actually practice or workout with the team until after the fall semester ended due to qualification issues.

He has already jumped to second on the spring depth. Probably slated to start now.

Wasn't it Loud who tweeted last year at his displeasure of PT and then took it down?
