I was in the stands for the USC game. I knew the playbook would be limited for Lock and quite frankly the entire offense. One thing that stood out like a 3rd eyeball was Lock did not throw a pass "downfield" more than 15 yards until the 4th quarter. And I believe that was the only pass he threw that far.

The playbook will have to grow a few pages this week. Florida will eat those short routes up. Lock needs to throw 15-30 yard passes all game long to give the running game a chance. If not it will be a long homecoming.

I'm just not sold on Florida being this juggernaut team that we are lucky to even have grace our field. People overreact to one game too much. They beat Ole Miss so they are the greatest team ever. If we beat them they will go back to being shite. So on and so forth.

I do agree though. We need to take the reigns off of Lock this game. Dialing down was a prudent gameplan last week and it worked, but we'll need more out of the offense to win this Saturday

USC plays mainly zone D, with the corners giving lots of cushion.

Florida won't give you those throws. They will man up the receivers, challenge the receivers to beat them off the line.

Different plays will be needed against them. Crosssing routes, slants, & such will be needed.

I suspect we'll see a more balanced passing game. I have no problem using the short game to set up the deeper routes later.

Think I saw that Lock was 1/2 on the deeper throws. I remember a laser to Reese

A lot of truth here....I think instead of limited playbook it was more of "let's keep the chains moving."

You all think Florida will play a lot of press coverage and bring massive amounts of pressure leaving their DB's on islands daring us to beat them most the game?

Or they respect the arm talent a little more from Lock and try to be more exotic from a scheme perspective to confuse our young QB?

UF plays pass D one way. Man up and pressure the hell out of you. I wouldn't expect anything else from them unless our run game forces them into zone (small chance).

I think FL will come out guns a blazing trying to put as much pressure on Lock & the WRs as possible in the hopes that they'll crack......after they go down by 14 in the 1st quarter, they'll change tactics.
