Yeah, I'm not on the "Frick Alden" bandwagon. I'm not sure he made a great hire in Haith, but I think he's done a pretty good job here at Mizzou.

Do you consider the FB team to have had a successful season last year?

People want to constantly blame the injuries for the year before, oddly enough though when we had a cupcake schedule facing injury plagued team after injury plagued team last season that doesn't seem to be an excuse.

I still think Pinkel should have been fired, he has not been able to bring home a single conference championship in his tenure. We've visited zero BCS bowl games in his tenure.

Unless the pinnacle of Mizzou football is playing for cotton bowls then what the shite is everyone pounding their chest with Pinkel about for?

Pinkel has shown with the news today again he can't control our players. He has shown he can't control himself. Do you think that doesn't play into recruiting with some kids?

Parents are trusting him to take their kids and help guide them into adulthood. Doesn't seem capable

I'm okay with Pinkel, but I think that comes from being in Columbia at the tail end of the shite decade. Larry Smith was the second coming and it didn't pan out, but the fans were pretty happy with winning.

Pinkel has moved the level of winning up incrementally, but hasn't gotten over the hump. I'm okay with that. He's done something very few have been able to do at Mizzou, win consistently.

I'm looking forward to BCS appearances and conference championships, but I'm coming from a place where a bowl game was amazing. I'm okay with winning Cotton Bowls and being in conference championship games. Being able to even be in contention for a conference championship was a pipe dream when I became a Mizzou fan. I'm happy that fans are beginning to be unhappy with "just" being in conference championships and never being in BCS games. That unhappiness was created by Pinkel's development of the program from what it was when he got the job.

The weed thing and controlling the players is whatever. That's going to happen, it happens everywhere. If we all want squeaky clean players, we should be a little more happy with Independence Bowl appearances. Based on past experiences, it seems like super clean programs and championships are mutually exclusive. Mizzou is about as close as you can get in my estimation.

Cool. I accomplished at least that much on this thread.

No biggy-goes with the territory sometimes on these boards, and I can appreciate the passion for MU. Lord knows I've said enough crap I shouldn't have said to other people on these boards.

I'm not really pro-Haith or anti-Haith at this point. I think he has potential as a coach, but I'm not convinced he can reach it here, due to everything surrounding his hiring. I also don't think it will help our search for a new coach if we fire a guy after 3 seasons who took over the mess he did and has won 75% of his games here. I can argue it round or square, so I'm staying on the fence for now.

I think Haith tried to get his best players on the floor as much as possible, and that meant Clarkson playing out of position as a PG. He's a wing scorer, not a PG. You need someone who will look for his teammates and not his own shot at PG. Clarkson is probably our best, most gifted player, and you can't just bench him when you are asking him to do something he's never done before, and which may not be in his makeup to do. But the only alternative was to turn the keys to the car over to a couple of freshman. Hindsight being 20/20, they might have been better off going forward if they had. I can understand why he didn't, though. Plus if he'd have done that, where does Clarkson get his minutes? From Brown? From Ross? Personally, I think they might have been better off playing more of a four guard lineup like Haith was forced to do his first season out of necessity, and let Ross play the 4. But again, that comes from hindsight.

Going forward, it's on Haith to produce from here on out. It's his program now, and he's had enough time to fix the roster situation he inherited. Next season he'll have some kids who have been here a while. There'll be some more talent coming in, although I'm not as high on Price and Belo as others are. I'm tired of the transfers, although I understand why they were used to fix the roster imbalance Haith inherited. But enough of that. Also, improvements on defense and team play all around better become evident next season, or he will be toast.
