Never thought I would hear a J'Mon Moore/Randal Grickuk comparison

Then there's hope. Gruchuk has looked better since he was sent down.
Maybe we should send J'mon down to Springfield for a couple weeks to work on his hands.

J'Mon has drop issues at times and so did JMac when he was at Mizzou. Macklin didn't have the best hands in the world at the Zou, but he was electric after the catch. The problem is that Mizzou doesn't have the speedy dynamic receivers outside of their slot guys in Black, Mason, Johnson and Wingo.
My starting 4 would be Moore, Black, Mason and Johnson with Collins and Dilosa getting some clock. You can't run the Baylor wr splits without speed.

He's look a ton better since the call up. I was hesitant to use that comparison because Grichuk's been doing well and I think more highly of him than J'Mon.
But both electric talents with something missing between the ears.
I have a lot more faith in Grichuk figuring it out than J'Mon.

I believe the problem is pressure. Moore makes most of his catches as any WR should. But when it's 3rd and 5 and everyone in the stadium and at home knows it's important, he drops the ball. It's mental in my opinion, but isn't that what separates the good from the great? In the clutch, the greats rise to the occasion.
I also read some Danario comments...DA could catch anything, anytime, he was just cursed with baby knees. He was a "Great" in the making. Big WR who didn't need a perfect pass to catch it regardless of the down and distance.

I don't recall either of them dropping passes like Moore does at this point.
I don't know about his junior year, but in his senior year Bud Sasser only dropped two passes all season. Moore dropped more than that in one game.

Bud dropped a lot of passes and was pretty inconsistent his JR year.

Jeremy Maclin was a 60%+ catch rate player both years he started at MU. Your starting QB doesn't complete 68% and 72% of his passes with the primary read dropping balls.
Marcus Lucas was over 55% every year of his career.
Sasser caught 59% as a Jr in 2013 and 62% in 2014.
J'Mon Moore was a 44% last year as the #1 read.

Just rewatched the game... Yea, I may have been giving J'Mon a lil more credit than he deserves with the drops

Remember the '14 SEC title game? Hunt played about the best game Ive ever seen a Mizzou WR play that day.

I think there may be something to this. IF he's catching well in practice and dropping in games, there's a mental component. At least in the instances where he has good separation. Whether it's handling pressure or something else, I don't know. But for the #1 target, I'd like to see more consistency.
And that has absolutely nothing to do with anything he's done off-field.

Hunt was on pace to have an outstanding Sr year until he got hurt in the loss to Indiana. He didn't play the next week vs SC and wasn't fully healed until the bye week after the UK game. He averaged 5 receptions per game and 23 yds per catch over the last 5 games of his career.
