It doesn't matter how good Lock does this Saturday

In fact the better he does, the more likely it hurts him.

He is going to struggle. The online is still hot dog shite even with the g.o.a.t. (Hansbrough) back.

Speaking of dog shite, insert south carolina. If lock doesn't lead us to 30 pts Saturday. It says either a) long season or b) catching passes is the least of our issues at WR.

7 wins with a one dimensional offense led by a freshman qb would be great.

Vandy, scar, arky, byu are wins. Unless well dog shite becomes a positive definition

I disagree.

This team needs a reason to get excited, a good/great game from Lock provides that.

Momentum is a big deal in football, this team can still make some noise.

I believe they are revitalized right now, a bad game kills it.

If Lock comes out and lays and egg, it's gonna be tough to dig out of that hole. Guys will start to mail it in, snowball effect, etc.

If what I hear is true, this team is gravitating towards Lock as a leader, and if the rumors about Mauk are true, there's the reason they didn't give the effort for Mauk.

By sticking with a clearly struggling Mauk, I think Pinkel was in danger of losing the team. So regardless of wins or losses, it would have gotten ugly.

Lock is better now and for the future.

I guess I could have stayed this better.

I expect Saturday to be a breeze. Lock can move the ball. However, sometime, somewhere he will have at least one freshman game. Ideally it would be against GA and not Arkansas or Vandy. Well actually not at all would be best but I have to see that happen than to believe it's not in a true freshman qb. Which isn't a knock against him.

I expect at least 30 but I wouldn't call Scar competition to gage literally anything on. In fact hanging 50 on them like Georgia would be bad IMO. I don't think this team can compete with Georgia. Far better than scar did but Chubb is a stud and those other two behind him don't suck either.

In short I'm not getting to up on the outcome of the game Saturday. For reasons stayed by others yes I agree momentum etc...but I can't look at scar worth a damn

I think this is the problem and why people melt so hard. No respect for the opponent. They are not a great team, but they are a SEC team with SEC athletes. We have a ton of holes ourselves. Any win would be great, putting up 30+ would be fantastic.

Yes, it would. Currently analytics has Mizzou the worst team in the SEC.

South Carolina is a 6.6 point favorite:

Agreed. Anyone assuming an automatic win against any SEC school is an idiot, especially this year. Anyone not respecting South Carolina is delusional. SEC program, great athletes, and a legendary, wily coach who seems to have Pinkel's number. I will be happy with any win.

I never assume anything. I want us to win and believe we will, but if I've learned anything from this season it is this: I'll probably be scratching my head or cursing thru the majority of games this season.

Regardless, I think the general consensus around the league and in the fan base was that Mizzou has won in spite of Mauk, not because of him.

Everyone I talk to is excited about Lock starting.

I'll be blunt, because I like to say thing a lot of people don't, if Mauk's Dad didn't have cancer, I don't know if anyone would care about him getting suspended. Everything I have read is geared towards his Dad's health. None of it is "Mauk is the better QB or the better leader or the future". Did one lead to the other? That's all just speculation.

I think people are merging too much of Mauk's personal life and his football performance.

I feel bad for him personally and hope his father recovers.

I don't want to see him play QB for Mizzou anymore, actually over the last 2 years watching him has been gut wrenching and maddening.

My last thoughts on "Mauk".

Let's go Lock

This is a CROCK OF shite!!!!

Is Maty Chase 2.0? Hell no but he's not Ryan Leaf or JaMarcus Russell either.

Defense has been MM's best friend for a long time. MM has NOT been the defense's best friend. ie. Mizzou 9 - Maty 6.

I'm so happy that I won't see MM's "famous WTF pass" (arm punt) on Saturday. You know his, "scramble left then pass cross-field off the wrong foot into double coverage".

Mauk's record is inflated by a stellar defense and very timely deep passes that have worked out.

I think this year we're seeing the result of Mauk not having all star receivers to catch is garbage.

I think garage is too negative but if our WRs aren't more aggressive than the DB, then there will certainly be some problems. MM throws a lot of 50/50 balls.....so overall I agree with you.

Dave Matter said it best. Maty Mauk is like a pitcher with a five ERA whose offense goes and gets in nine runs a game.

It's very pronounced this year because of how inconsisten Mauk has been.

Defenses are not respecting his ability to make accurate throws or make good decisions. They are plugging the running lanes and spying Mauk to prevent QB runs, which have always been his go to.

I have a feeling that with Lock at QB, the defenses will have to loosen up and it will be result in better running lanes and more open WRs.
