Sterk hired Rocky Long at SD St into 2011. He's never had a losing season, they've won back to back Mountain West titles and are 24-3 in their last 27 games. Just beat a ranked Stanford team.
So if we are looking for a bright side, his only FB hire turned out about as well as can be expected.
To be fair though, Long was already there as the DC. He was hired when Hoke left for Michigan.

So many big jobs are going to be open. Sterk will probably have to take a risk on a young and less proven coach. Go to schools like SMU, Memphis or UTSA. Or an experienced coach that wants another shot like Bo Pelini.
Or pay big money to an existing P5 coach. Purdue pays Brohm 3.3 million, so it would take around 5 million to steal that type of coach, maybe more.

Yeah, I meant to put that in the post. He's not a candidate lol. Just looking for some good news. None of us should have any reason not to trust Sterk.
He's a top notch AD and we are lucky to have him imo.

And what may help us is Sterk's a football guy:
From MU site: "Sterk graduated from Western Washington University in 1980, where he earned four letters in football and one in basketball. He was credited with a school-record 164 tackles during the 1977 season, garnering first-team NAIA District I all-star accolades. He was named team captain and MVP, helping the Vikings to the district championship game. On Feb. 6, 2010, Sterk was inducted into Western Washington's Athletics Hall of Fame for his gridiron success."
Don't you know Mizzou's missed tackles gnaw at him?

That is a rather huge point on Sterk. At first, the Long hire was not a good one because he was a failure at his last HC job.
I also thought it was not a great hire but it appears Sterk must have known why he failed previously and why SDSU would be different for Long.
