It looks like the Bama CBs are very vulnerable this year compared to year's past. Collins stabilizes everything at safety, but tobythetiger is right. There will be open receivers down field at points. Can Mauk find them, and can the receivers hold on to the ball??

We control the ball. We make defensive plays. We make offensives plays. Our special teams shows up to work. And we knock Sims on his arse and keep him there throughout the game.

I finally got around to watching the Iron Bowl on DVR and OMG, Blake Sims is clearly the best QB Mizzou will have faced all year. He can make all the throws accurately, including on the run, and is efficiently mobile. He loves to throw on time, backpedal to a spot and wing it. So the DL is going to have to disrupt his timing and knock him around or we're fooked.
I was also stunned to see how pedestrian Auburn was at generating any pressure with their DLine. It makes you appreciate the level at which Ray, Golden & Co. are playing and the job Coach Kug has done molding them. Watching Sims operate unmolested only underscored how the game will turn on their effectiveness.
I'd be curious how NFL scouts view Sims. He looked like a young Jeff Blake vs. Aubie.

Am I the only other one that thinks Bama pulls an OU, and gives Murphy the ole' Mac Daddy Maclin?

Collins is tough. He's physical, but from what I've seen really struggles in coverage. He can probably cover Culkin, but if we get any one on ones with him and a WR then Maty needs to take that everytime.
A lot of their defenders seem pretty stiff. Like they are all playing 10lbs too heavy. That's great if your playing the game inside the tackle box, but that's not what were going to do. If our line can hold up their pass rush and Maty is accurate while making good decisions, we can move the ball and put up some points.

Bama will throw the dink and dunk short passes to disrupt the Mizzou pass rush. If they are allowed to catch and run then Bama rolls up a ton of yards and Mizzou will have to win a shoot out. They want to draw your safeties in close to the line of scrimmage to help out on short pass coverage or stop the run so they can throw deep on you.
The good news is that Mizzou's defense is at least as talented as Arkansas this year and a lot deeper. Shut down the short pass routes and roll the dice a few times to stop the run. Sims is a solid QB but he doesn't like to be chased around.
As long as you don't let Bama string together a couple of TDs and get you in a hole I like Mizzou's chances to win.

Arksulli, you're a good addition to the board. Agree with the analysis.
Think the obvious key to this game is start hot and not have to come from a deep hole in the 2nd half.

Tend to agree about Sims, he may be too good to beat with our normal D, we may actually need to try and play some tight man coverage rather than the normal soft zone.
We will see.

Nothing wrong with a soft zone coverage against most teams but my concern would be that Bama's WRs are big and fast enough to churn out solid 5 yards or so catches on short bubble screens and slants. Between those and a solid, though not dominant, running game they can march up and down the field.
Now that would help against the big pass plays that Bama loves though. Pinkel may go with the soft zone and make Bama nickel and dime you guys the whole game. In that case your run defense needs to step up.
I do think that Bama's WRs are a bit too used to being feared. They didn't like getting jammed at the line of scrimmage against us and Cooper had a lousy game.
Either way, if it is a close game going into the 4th I like Mizzou's chances to close out another tight game.

Better be over before the 4th quarter , if you watched the 15 to 20 minuites that "bama" Played in the Auburn game . If Bama plays a full game like the 15 minuites or so, you are in a heap of trouble .Watch for the $$$ calls or no calls I have on bet with a Bama Fan , he gave me Missouri and 5 TD's .
GEAUX TIGERS
His reason is "Missouri has caught the SEC East when it has never been this weak"
I hope Missouri proves him wrong ,

This defines their philosophy. Keep everything in front of you and gamble that on more drives than not either the offense will fail to execute on 1 series in a drive or the defense will make a big play in 1 series in a drive.

I hear Bama fans saying the team won't overlook Mizzou, but part of me has to believe that these same thoughts creep into the players heads as well. I think they'll be jacked up. Hell, it's a championship game. But I think they'd be a lot more jacked up if it were UGA or the sort.

There was a thread over on TB earlier this year that made the interesting point that Mizzou was benefiting from not having any real rivals in the SEC. No one really gets jacked up to play us consistently. I think that does make for an easier path to the divisional lead especially.

I know for one I'm getting really pissed about the national narrative that not only don't we really deserve to be there, they don't even want us there.
I was just watching This Week In the SEC on CBS Sports Network and after the obligatory dissing and acknowledging of Missouri winning, the host had the gall to ask, "If you guys could have picked who you want to see come out of the East? Who would you have picked?"
Are you fricking kidding me?!
Burn This Bitch Down!!
