For his career, Terrence Phillips is averaging 4 assists/game. If we assume:

1. A 31-game schedule (30 regular season, just one SEC tourney game and no post-season)

2. That he stays at that average (he's ups 1.2 apg from last season)

...he will finish as the program's #2 all-time assist leader, wedged between Pressey and Peeler.

Doesn't make things better; just an interesting stat.

He would be good if he had some guys around him that could score the ball efficiently.
He was great at Oak Hill, where all he had to do was get the ball to his finishers.

Technically this roster is full of guys that would be perfect for the 4th or 5th starter role, or as a reserve that should get 10-15 minutes a game max.

I'd like to see TP as a #2 guard bc he sucks bringing the ball up & Geise sucks at shooting. TP has a pretty good 3 pt shot when he takes the one he's supposed to take....in rhythm & stepping into the shot. Giese (I think I'm spelling it right) should shoot a 3 pointer only if he's the only guy on the floor.

Oh yeah, interesting stat....proves we're not Assist U.

I think when you look at the absolute scarcity of scorers to pass to--and suspect ability to catch said passes--it shows a glimmer of hope.

Get better guys around him and Phillips may actually be something special.

I remain in the camp that believes our basketball program will turn around faster then our football program

Eh... I dont think so. Football is well ahead. But I do agree, with a new and improved coach we could get things turned around quickly. With the team we have now, we have a pg, SF, and PF. But absolutely vulnerable at SG and C. And unfortunately, it doesn't get better next season recruiting wise.

Hope either CVL and or K.J. transfers, get a late C and if we have a spot a sg.

Yeah but flip that around. This team is a SG and strong PF/C away from being good. And Roberts might be the SG.

If KA had those he wouldn't be going anywhere

I get why KA needs to be fired.

If you're old and white you've got to be a known name -- KA is not. He cannot recruit as a nobody.

But watching some of these games it seems like if they just had a guy or two who could shoot they'd have twice as many wins.

Which means maybe it's not KA's coaching and ability to prepare a team for competition, but his inability to recruit.

And then we must ask whether or not he'd have been able to recruit a pure scorer or two if he didn't deal with the Haith mess and investigation.

Which then makes us ask if KA is really the absolute shite-show coach that we've branded him as?

Haith didn't leave that big of a mess. Pastor inherited a similar type of team at GA Tech. It hasn't limited him.

What would've helped KA recruit is if he didn't lose to UMKC to open his career here.

Change that game. Then change the Illinois buzzer beater and Allen's missed layup that would've beat OSU. Maybe if we win those three, we have a little more confidence and pull out a couple of the close conference games.

And maybe if we do that, we're able to land someone like Thomas Bryant, who we managed to get in for a visit. Maybe we get one other high-profile guy on board, as well.

And then maybe we're able to actually dig our way out of the whole we've been stuck in.

Small failures by KA from the start have made it very difficult for him to improve in the areas we need to improve. The margin for error was always going to be slim, and he missed the opportunities he had.

Guys.

He left an ncaa investigation -- no matter how severe or not, that phrase is a plague on a program like Mizzou. It 100% caused problems with recruiting (I of course also acknowledge that an old white man like KA, with no pedigree in D1, is going to have a hard time recruiting high level players).

He also left a roster of malcontents who did not get indoctrinated into Mizzou culture because they were transfers.

He left a significant mess. One that rational and fair thinking people acknowledge as a significant mess.

This comment shows you missed the point entirely.

Just like you did in your OT thread.

I like watching all these other people witness your inability to process information and respond correctly.

You said twice as many wins.
We have 5.

Guess we can disagree, a good coach would be able to turn that around pretty quick. KA chased a bunch of high profile recruits instead of targeting Shamet out of KC, and OG out of JC. Add those 2 to Puryear and Phillips and this years ceiling is easily over .500.

There's really no way to disagree with the fact Haith left a mess.

It's qualified: investigation and roster of non-Mizzou loving transfers.

I don't follow this enough to know who he pursued and who he didn't. His potential poor choices in recruiting targets doesn't disqualify the point that Haith left the program rotten and with the cloud of an investigation.

It was minor penalties.
Fuller was limited a little in recruiting
Mizzou was docked 2 scholarships in 3 years.
APR was low, but never limited Mizzou in recruiting.

That's the extent of the penalties.
