Two openings to be filled now. Not exactly heartbroken about this one

do we know who made the hiring for the DC staff under Wilks? I'd love to know if it was Wilks or Drink.

Staff was already here. Wilks didn’t bring in anybody. I’d imagine if they add to the defensive staff then it would be Wilks’ hire

Then so far I am not impressed with any of Drink's defensive hires.

Wilks turned it around the 2nd half of the season. Im sure there was a learning curve with the new defense.

I dont know about that. "turned it around" to me means it went from bad to good. That did not happen. I would say Wilks stopped the bleeding and that was about it. Even if you take just the 2nd half of the season our defensive metrics are pathetic, just not as pathetic as the first half.

The offense or defense weren't good last year

Throw money at steeples to come back and coach at Mizzou. Only way to fully secure STL now.

with an opening on the defensive side of the staff i wonder how possible or likely something like poaching steeples would be.

Steeples is from STL, played for MU, and beyond that his time in STL was pretty impressive rebuilding DeSmet's football team into a national powerhouse. Got tapped from HS ball to the NFL (impressive on its own!)... I would think he is a good recruiter and has good ties in the MO footprint. Also not sure what exactly his role is on LSU staff, but knowing we have a potential position coach opening makes this very curious.

Ah really? Great for him, but since he is a positional coach and not an assistant probably hurts our chances at this point

Anyone know any other names / targets MU would be looking at?

I know we have Safeties, TE, and Strength and Conditioning Coaching spots open at the moment.
