re: Does it bother you that Missouri is getting no "respect" this preseason?

By the way, if Missouri would not have had all those injuries in their inaugural season, everyone would have seen two really good years from Missouri.
Mizzou is for real.
Mizzou is for real.

Flying under the radar is fine with me. For now.
If Mizzou keeps winning, respect will (grudgingly) come.

Who exactly is picking A&M to do well this year? I haven't seen them finishing higher than 4th in the West in any predictions.
And as far as Mizzou, media members see the loss of big name guys like Franklin, DGB, Sam, etc. and automatically think drop off happens. I see it every year from AU's side as to media members perception is reality until proven wrong.

Ya except most of the guys they see as losses they couldn't have told you shite about at the beginning of last year.

Being Mizzou we are a proud bunch and believe the motto of our state..."Show Me". Well we did just that last year and then no respect preseason once again....
Good news is this....great chalkboard talk for the Coaching staff to get our guys motivated and play with a huge chip on their shoulders! I see the lack of respect as a great thing for our team and a pain in the arse for we fans! Mizzou will compete for the a East title once again...only problem I see is we get Scar at their house...would have liked to get them later in the season. One thing is for sure ...Maty Mauk will surprise the shite out of everyone in the country...bank on it!

Pinkels teams play and develop better when they come from off the radar.

Wow, I would still take the win but your right about the headline maybe change it to "Cocks wilt, no match for MIZZOU tight ends"

Talking heads on these networks prove to the world year in and year out that they do not understand GP's system. They do not understand player development and assume that if you don't have a top 10 recruiting class, you won't amount to shyte. Missouri is #3 on the list of most 1st round NFL draft picks in the last 10 years, with FSU and Bama in front of them. They are too stupid to put those pieces together. They are too stupid to see that GP has won big in two completely different conferences. Hell, Missouri is the first team to be ranked top-5 in the USA Today poll at the end of a season, then start the next season in that poll unranked.
But whatever. Mizzou will get their 10 wins this season, and the talking heads will make a new set of excuses as to why the SEC East was down again this year

To me, this is more frustrating than the no respect aspect. These people are paid to do a job and then hardly do any research on our team. We have to sit through Spears saying he doesn't see us having a pass rush because we lost 2 of the top 8 players off our dominant D line from last year. WTF?

Why is anyone surprised the same dipshits predict the same dipshit things year after year?

And yet people still watch them.
As a hog fan, I think missouri can build on last year. How many wins that may be i'm not sure. Just like every team in the sec, you will have to give it your all every week. Once again thank you for allowing me to post on your board.

Funny that aTm is expected to compete in the West, without JFF, Mike Evans, and those offensive lineman they lost. Also, let's not forget how bad that d was last year.
I haven't seen A&M get picked higher than 4th, usually 5-6th.

Mauk is getting alot of respect, too much in my opinion. His name recognition along with supporting cast last year with Josey and a stellar defense allows him to get more credit than I think he deserves.
If his name was Joseph Johnson and had the exact same QB numbers that Mauk had last year, but you didn't win the East because lets say Josey tore his ACL in week 4, I don't think anyone would be excited about him.
That being said... not getting picked to win the East doesn't mean people don't think you are good. It's hard to win the East.
#5 is usually 1 win from being #4.
#4 is usually 1 win from being #3.
#3, #2, and #1 are usually tied with head-to-head competition separating them.
Finishing 3rd in the East doesn't necessarily mean you suck, it's not like finishing 3rd in Big 10 or Pac12.
You could say the same for the West. AnM finished #3 the last two years, despite how badass their offense was, with great line, receivers, and qb.
Look at Auburn..... two lucky plays are what got them to the SEC CG.
If they don't get that freak last minute TD vs UGA, they don't win the division. The following week, if they don't get that last second Kick-6, they probably don't win the division (but still might have won in OT).
Auburn was really damn close to being #3 in the West last year. They were two plays from being #3.
And Auburn was clearly a really great team.
The point is that it's really really hard to predict the winner of each division. Talent is almost equal, and wherever a team might not have as much talent on paper, they make up for with more experience or an easier schedule.
This is what the SEC is all about.
The fact people aren't picking Mizzou to win the East pre-season isn't an insult.
What is an insult is last year when yall were in the lead toward the end of the season and controlled your own destiny, but alot of people still wouldn't concede you were going to be the winner. People chose to beleive a bunch of weird shite would happen and SC would go, and even weirder, talk of a few things going UGA's way and UGA actually going despite being knee-deep in injuries, pun intended.

Nice post deeprig. I'm not saying Mizzou should be favored, but it would be nice if the media did give us a little more credit. Afterall, they are bending over backwards for Florida.
But then Mizzou seems to be stuck in that media afterthought similar to Okie State (despite their success and our Cotton Bowl opponent). Both have solid coaches, but not a deep history or flashy recruiting classes, but they keep winning.
It's going to take a few years until Mizzou and SEC become "natural" to say. It's really only recently that SC seemed to be accepted into the SEC fraternity, imagine how it would be if they didn't have a high profile coach like Spurrier.
Pinkel and staff have their "Process" in place, they are definitely recruiting more athletic talent so I say give it 3 more years, and with Muschamps help, we will replace Florida as a SEC East favorite.

Well said. I probably fall somewhere in the middle on Mauk. As a redshirt freshman, I think his numbers were pretty sound. I also think his performance improved with each start, though I'm fully aware, someone can find a stat to support nearly any argument (and I can't remember which numbers were being used when I read that). I anticipate Mauk will provide highlight reel material this year, both on the good and the bad from a Mizzou fan's perspective.
