Clownzo’s Fatal Flaws

1. Recruits a type of player. Oddly enough, these aren’t “basketball players.”
2. Zero roster strategy. Had three years to replace Tilmon. We have a literal stiff and a kid who didn’t play high school basketball last year. We don’t have a Point Guard. We have 12 fricking roster slots and no point guard.
3. His assistants blow literal arse. When Cuonzo is fired, none of them will be hired at a Power 5 school. Mann might. But it won’t be based on what he’s done here.
4. Gene Keady told him “defense wins games.” Like 30 years ago. Also, he hasn’t developed an offense. At all. He’s set the game back with the offenses we’ve fielded.
5. He runs off players almost as efficiently as Kim Anderson did. If we have Pinson tonight, we don’t lose. Cuonzo would rather win the personal battle of wills with his players than win games.
6. This might have been controversial in the past. But can we all admit that this guy has been coasting since day one at Mizzou? If you’re dead set against this narrative, it actually worse. It means he’s been trying and he’s not good enough to win mid-major games in year 5.

Hasn’t even tried to fill the obvious need of shooter since Kassius left.

Good point.
Our offense revolves around jacking up 3s. We haven’t had a shooter since the one year of Kassius.

I think I can count on one hand the number of baseline out of bounds that haven’t ended with a lob to a big man at the elbow to a hand off in the last 4 years. Never can get shots. God forbid

I rarely ever post and I am a big basketball fan/ even coach at the high school level. This is embarrassing watching this offense. We haven't watched a change in the offense except for maybe his first offense with the porters and Kassius. It just hasn't changed and I really don't know how our players are supposed to succeed under such a poorly constructed offense with 10 coaches someone has to be able to do better than this..
As for out of bounds plays I have thought this now for 3 years, when a team struggles to score in a half court set wouldn't you think you would run lots of in bound plays trying to find easy ways to score.. I know I sure do.
I like Martin and I may get blasted for saying that- I think he has great morals, even defensively he is not a bad coach but man he struggles to help these players get any confidence due to such a inept offensive playbook. These players really might not even be that bad we just have a coach who will never be able to put players in a system to succeed.
Tons of none P5 coaches have way lesser talent that we have right now I can assure you but they have a great offense in place a true system that they find players to fit or make fit and they win.
Santa Clara just won against Stanford and parker braun plays meaningful minutes. He is not the focal point no but obviously you can win with guys like parker braun playing if you have a good system. We don't and we will never win due to this. Not saying Santa Clara will end up great either but they can obviously beat a P5 level school due to putting players in a good system to win while we can't even beat a summit league team due to ours being so flawed and behind the times.

I think Clownzo has some pull at Xfinity. I was watching a damn good program on the Smithsonian channel Monday night, you know, good quality television, and it was like I hear a couple crackles and snaps and like magic, all of a sudden, I was on the CBS sports network instead of the channel I was tuned in to. What pray tell is dis? Glancing down to the bottom of the screen, I see Missouri and Florida State in the score board. How the hell did I wind up here? The bigger question is, how the hell was Mizzou getting throttled by F.S.? No, I didn't watch it. I'd say Cuonzo has had his run, time for new blood. Time for Mizzou to dig deep for a change. This new athletic director said she wants championships, well, no better place to start. Time to stop the talk and walk the walk.
