Not trying to troll or be offensive. Serious question.

How can a white coach recruit to Mizzou after all the stuff that has gone on at the campus?

The only way you can hire a white coach and expect much of him imo is if you draw a really big name well respected coach and that isn't going to happen.

Mizzou will still get players...just don't know how good they'll be. Any brotha will still want a free ride, chance to play on TV, go pro.

Welcome to our world when we fired Nolan Richardson. They were basically forced to hire a black coach and it completely backfired on us.

They powers that be absolutely need to make the right hire for the program whether he's white or black. That's more important than worrying about what some kids are going to feel in their safe space when it's announced.

This. Preferably a no nonsense guy. The bs will subside in time and that's what we will need when the smoke clears

Damn I remember that mess. Nolan even pulled the race card, players still came though. Didn't he say some racist killed his horse and some other things.

Also, u have to add in how Richardson played the race card during the whole process, and even down the road.

It was super messy, and he made it worse than going out with his dignity left.

So you ask this question because you believe all black families are so shallow and simple that a relatively peaceful protest is going to keep them from having their sons play at Mizzou, unless a token black coach is hired?

What a friggin dumb thread.

The events this past week were not that peaceful. Whether they are black or white the next coach is going to struggle for the next few years. They are going to have to give them a few years but this entire mess is going to linger for years. It has damaged the entire university.

Anyone that decides to either come to CoMo or not come based on the color of our coach can just go to A&M.

Black mom or dad......"Boy you betta go to Missourah and get that free education", "try and go to the NFL". "don't have no money to be paying fo yo college". "you ain't abouts to run da streets".

I doubt if many black parents keep those boys from Mizzou.

You posters on here get me with the race card crap. Are you serious with that nonsense? When Blacks, Jews,Mexicans, women, gays, fat people, ugly people, etc make a point about discrimination a certain element proclaims that they are playing the "card." BS!!! But when that certain element complains something get's done before they finish their complaint. I went to Mizzou back in the late 70's to the early 80's and my experience is the same as the protesters, but we handled it ourselves.

That's the difference. Today's young people are a much more entitled breed, and aren't nearly as self-sufficient.

To answer the OP, yes, we can hire a white coach. If he's a good recruiter, he can get recruits. The key is to hire the RIGHT coach, regardless of color, that can build on what Gary has done here. With the right guy, race doesn't matter.
