Monday.

Does Martin start announcing some of his staff shortly after that?

I think they're splashing this hire in a big way.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't have a bunch of announcements lined up.

I'm kind of envisioning that as well.

If things play out as we all hope, I think it could be argued that Martin was the best option 808. Notice, I didn't say best coach.

The fan base needs something to energize it again. Bring them all back. Get the money flowing back in. And he's not a "bad" coach. So at worst, you got the best bridge coach you could have gotten that turned the program around faster than anyone else could have. At least that's how I'm looking at it.

I think that's a legit opinion. If we flip the Porters, it's likely. If a Smith and Tilmon come along for the ride, it's undoubtedly true. Could be the best recruiting class in Mizzou's history. No one could've seen that a week ago. Let along 6 months ago.

There's a chance they hire Roy to get MPj.

Think they'd hire a high school coach just for one player? He may end up at the college level, but I don't think he has any experience in college even as an assistant.

I don't follow hirings closely but have there been many P5 hirings of high school coaches as head coaches? Seems awfully risky. At least with Martin, we knew he had at least a respectable resume at this level.

Yeah. You're probably right. I didn't realize he was coaching HS.

Yeah, I think he coached MPjr in fact. I could be wrong but I thought I remembered reading something about that back when the Porters said they were transferring high schools.

If I'm right in that, there definitely is a connection to the Porters. I just don't see Wazzu doing that. Maybe a HC brings Roy on as an asst to lure MPjr.

My take. There ain't going to be any Porters at Washington. They didn't love the school. They loved their godfather. They're not going to go to a school who just fired their godfather. The loyalty that got them to go to a relatively no-name in basketball is the same loyalty that will prevent them from ever considering them now.

I don't know if Mizzou gets them but I don't see any chance at Wazzu no matter who they hire.

It's a long shot but my biggest hope is they have been holding back some football stuff (ie commitments) until after this hubbub.

Seems like more of a formality than anything to me.

According to the PM info, they all miss mid MO. Romar getting fired just assured it would happen.

Can he even be offered the job yet? Officially I mean? Until Martin is officially approved...can he extend offers to staff? Speaking technicalities. I can't remember if KA or Haith or anyone announced any staff members until the i's were dotted and t's cross by the Board.

If I'm correct, then no, Porter obviously hasn't accepted anything yet. Technically.

There was some scuttlebutt that they were so unhappy in Washington that they were considering coming back even if Romar stayed. And that that was what did Romar in.

That would make sense.

Was confused until I figured out the problem here:

Wazzu = Washington State
U-Dub = Washington

Don't know for sure, but I'd assume that he can't officially hire any assistants until the board approves not only his contract, but the assistants pool.

Roy isn't just a high school coach. He was an NBA star. Bad knees kept him from being a HOF player. He is pretty well known on the west coast basketball circles.
Now it's a big step up from high school to college so he would need great assistants the first couple of years.
