“Everybody cares about records,” South Carolina Coach Frank Martin said. “Listen, when you’re playing nothing but freshmen, you’ve got no chance to win. It’s not about the record. It’s how the kids are playing, and they’re playing their tails off at the time of year where a lot of people start throwing in the towel. “That’s called coaching. That’s Kim Anderson’s personality. It’s starting to come through on these kids.”

The problem is no sign of improvement. I can accept losing in year 2 if it looks like the team is improving. 0-8 on the road. 3-10 in conference. 5 losses by 20 or more points. 10 losses by at least 10 points (39% of games played.) To me that is unacceptable. There is nothing to give me hope of improvement. Talented players keep leaving or giving up on this program and there is a reason for it that we do not see either. If KA were not a nice guy who graduated from Mizzou no one would be supporting him. The fact is he was brought here do job. A job that takes a lot of money and should generate a lot of revenue for the school (and for the state.) He has not done that job. How long do you pay someone millions to fail?

Well, I'll have to disagree. I can't really argue or counter any of your points but I do feel like the team is improving. Also encouraging to see them not completely tank knowing they have nothing to play for.

I think Kim has the younger guys on the team bought in. Once these guys get to be upperclassmen I think we could be back in the tournament. Provided KA can add some quality pieces around them.

I was all for firing him earlier this season but have softened my stance. He'll be here next year for sure, and I think it's very possible we take a good step forward next season.

Mizzou's KenPom ranking is higher than last year at this point in the season. Last year Mizzou was right at 200, this year Mizzou is at 170.

KenPom last year at the end of the year was 225 I believe.

PPG 68 (2015-16), 60 (2014-15)
PA/G 71 (2015-16), 67.9 (2014-15)
RPG 36 (2015-16), 33 (2014-15)
FG% 41.8% (2015-16), 40.3% (2014-15)
FT% 71% (2015-16), 66.6% (2014-15)
APG 13 (2015-16), 12 (2014-15)
TPG 12 (2015-16), 13 (2014-15)
BPG 3 both seasons
SPG 6 both seasons
3PT% 29.5% (2015-16), 32.9% (2014-15)

In summary, we have improved in most statistical categories. 3pt shooting is down and PA/G are both down, however the average margin has improved by 4.9 ppg (from -7.9 to -3). I feel that the last few games they have shown more heart and determination, and part of that may be that they are getting confidence and starting to buy in, which is tough for a young team to do.

I know most won't agree, but I believe it takes 4 years to really judge if a coach is the right fit so he can get all of his own recruits in and get them to buy in. If by year 4 we aren't around the 19-23 win mark, then I would say we need to move on. KA needs to have the opportunity to get all of his own guys in and to get them to buy in though.

For those who are still saying there is no improvement are probably not watching the games because these guys are playing with heart and have actually been somewhat enjoyable to watch the last couple of games.

Honestly I think it takes 3 years in basketball. I was hoping for 19 wins by year three. My expectation was 15 wins by year 2 which I thought was reasonable. I am not excited about the new recruits coming in and have not been impressed with the progression of Gant and Wright, two guys who had high expectations coming in and have not lived up to them ( that can be on them, KA, or both.) I am assuming KA gets at least a 3rd year. There are too many supporters for him not to. But if this trend continues and we win 12-14 games next year and continue to get blown out and struggle to beat lesser teams he needs to be gone. I will acknowledge other points as many have stated reasonable reasons for him to stay. But I think there are just as many reasons for him to be gone. But the bigger one for him to be gone as opposed to staying is the lack of revenue created.

Year 4 is the payoff year. I expected 14-15 wins this year and a KenPom rating around 125.

To get to that I was expecting 35-40 points from the combination of Gant, Wright, & Clark. They produced about half that amount.

To get to what Mizzou needs to get to year 4 the newcomers will have to be very good.

There are still 3-4 guys Mizzou is recruiting that I think can come in and be major contributors. But if we miss on all of them, I won't be expecting much next year.

I think major improvement needs shown in year 3 or else there will be no year 4.

This is known as a radical revision of expectations. Haith didn't get a contract renewal after 19 wins.

Haith had a different situation. Let's compare Haith and Quinn Synder or Kim and Quinn. Let's compare everyone to norm bc they all different situations but u get that through your head

FH got the team worse after MA and KA made the team wose after FH. I will continue to say no one would stand up for KA as much as they do if he were not a "Mizzou guy."

Haith didn't have as radically different a situation. His roster in year 3 had no one left from MA and he still got to the postseason.

Kim Anderson has sucked balls on his own terms. Get that through your head.

P.S. We're losing by 13 at a very mediocre Arkansas.

Haith also got us in hot water with the NCAA...maybe that had something to do with it.

Haith was done in by Dixon.

Without him getting in trouble Haith coaches teams that win 30 games both of his first 2 years and gets an extension.

Instead he inherited a very good core group, and Left Mizzou after year 3, basically leaving Rosburg, J3, & Clark behind.

It certainly did at the administration level. It had much less to do with his loss of fan support.
