PM is saying they've heard Porter will take the Washington job. So that sucks.

It would've taken a lot of resources to recruit Michael anyway.

We're better off getting kids who want to come to Mizzou. Those top-rated kids are all pre Madonnas anyway.

That's a positive. I'll take it. We could use a positive.

How do you figure KA is not on the hot seat. His seat is hot as hell. If he doesn't make it to the NIT he is most likely gone. If he gets to something worst he almost he is gone. I don't see this team making it to the NIT. He is very much on the hot seat going into this next season.

Hate to rehash old news but trying to catch up. I just don't think that the new AD will fire him as long as he shows improvement, whether that means making post season tournaments or not. The key will be whether or not improvement is shown. Part of me think he gets a 3rd year even if he only wins 8 games again. Regardless of how I feel about it, I don't think the AD would and not sure if should.

I think he will pull the trigger pretty quick. If he gets 8 wins next year no way he is back. He didn't hire him so I think he will be quicker to fire him.

I think he almost assuredly gets a 3rd year, and if the team shows signs of life then year 4.

(sigh)

Probably. And it's probably the right thing to do. But if we do better than just treading the water of mediocrity under Kim Anderson, I'll be shocked.

Seeing Portis declare for the draft is an example of why the expectation/hope/goal should be that KA lands guys like Tatum. 5* from within the state. No. Not going to get them all. So get Porter.

ETA - Oh, and they're expected at this point to land Monk, a 5* from within their state that is in Tatum's class and is the 6th ranked player in the nation according to some services.

Westminster's PG had a good year in HS. Switched to MoKan for AAU. Will be interesting to see if his recruiting heats up. I don't see him as a P5 recruit now, but we'll see. Saw him in some of Porter's highlights the other day. All free information.

Your Cats lost in baseball today. Just more free information. I kid. Well no, I'm serious about the loss but it was in good fun.

If KA can win 18 games in his first year, he will. Oh wait.

We'll cut some slack...as long as KA can get to 19 wins next year, 22 wins and the NIT in year 3 and 27 wins and the NCAA in year 4 (no, hasn't been there 5 years), then KA will be just fine.

Another correlation if my math is right, Portis (the 5* like Tatum) committed to Arkansas in what would have been MA's 2nd season. Maybe there's hope that KA can do the same and land Tatum still despite the bad news recently.

For those that were doubting earlier that KA didn't work hard enough or got out worked by the likes of Cal and Coach K, here ya go.

LINK

quote:

When Kim Anderson got hired he made it known that Jayson was still high on their radar and they wanted to make sure they made a push for him. But that was in the beginning when he got hired. But as you know (Anderson) had to worry about his program, and that was a task of his own.

There probably wasn’t enough consistent communication during that time to keep Jayson intrigued.

Kind of like the whole hire. Came in talking a good game, but then the real work was supposed to come and never showed up.

quote:

We just didn’t feel the strong love from Mizzou as we did with the effort UNC or Duke or some others were putting in. Obviously, those are high-profile programs. If they can put their work in from hours and hours and miles and miles away, somebody can do the same thing from an hour and a half away.

What an embarrassment and he hits it on the head. Mizzou is right around the corner but guys half way around the country are finding a way to get their faces seen on a more constant basis. No excuse.

quote:

I think Kim Anderson had big shoes to fill coming in and trying to get hometown recruits. I’m not faulting Kim or none of his staff. I just know there was a big hole to fill, and if they wanted to fill it, they probably could have done a better job. But then they had their program as well to deal with. They might have thought they were in good enough to bypass some time.

Certainly the whole coaching change thing might have had an impact, but it sickens me to hear how high they were on Mizzou all the way up until shortly after KA was hired. He was stoked about how early he was offered. He grew up watching Mizzou. Has family that loves Mizzou. I certainly think KA could have kept us in the top 3 and from there who knows. No one thought GP could get DGB. But instead, he halted or certainly slowed the recruiting of Tatum and let Mizzou's name just fade away.

Or, that could be just justification for leaving. They still have to live here and blaming Mizzou is a lot easier than just coming out and saying we liked the other schools better.

Wouldn't be the first time.
