Nov. 17: Puerto Rico Tip-Off vs. TBA (San Juan, Puerto Rico)

Nov. 18 Puerto Rico Tip-Off vs. TBA (San Juan, Puerto Rico)

Nov. 20: Puerto Rico Tip-Off vs. TBA (San Juan, Puerto Rico)

Teams in the tourney:

Arizona State - Doubt we can beat
Clemson - Cannot beat
Davidson - Cannot beat
Northern Iowa - Cannot beat
Oklahoma - Cannot beat
Tulane - Might be able to beat
Xavier - Cannot beat

So if we are extremely lucky in the brackets, we MIGHT get one win.

Nov. 25 or 26: vs. Northwestern State (Columbia) - Should win but who the hell would want to watch this game?

Dec. 3: vs. Western Kentucky (Columbia) - Might be able to win but again, would you devote 4 hours drive time to watch?

Dec. 6: vs. Miami of Ohio (Columbia) - Should win.

Dec. 10: vs. Arizona (Columbia) - Loss

Dec. 17: vs. Eastern Illinois (Columbia) - Should win

Dec. 21: vs. Illinois (St. Louis) - Loss

Dec. 29: vs. Lipscomb (Columbia) - Should win.

I'm assuming there's still a couple/few games to add, but what a shite schedule short of the Puerto Rico Tipoff. Outside of the playing in Puerto Rico, there are only two games worth a damn on that schedule, both of which we'll lose of course. But I'd rather play solid teams and lose than such no names and win. Assuming the remaining games are more Northwestern State's of the world, we could literally be worse than last year but have a better record with that schedule.

KenPom rating of possible opponents:

Arizona State - 104
Clemson - 48
Davidson - 106
Northern Iowa - 66
Oklahoma - 7
Tulane - 219
Xavier - 11

Northwestern State - 328
Western Kentucky - 161
Miami - 238
Arizona- 21
Eastern Illinois - 265
Illinois - 132
Lipscomb - 281

I could see a the team winning anywhere from 5 to 10 based on the noncon schedule.

5? Yes. It's a pretty weak schedule.

10? Not a chance.

Why not? It's possible that Arizona and the first game in Puerto Rico are the only teams that were ranked above 100 in KenPom last year. 2 more are to be added they probably won't be great teams either.

Not that it really matters, but both these teams lose their Top 3-4 players from last year.

Although he doesn't deserve it at this point, I give KA the benefit of the doubt until I see it on TV/in person that they haven't improved.

We only return 5 players and have brought in only unranked 3* to fill in, we're not going to be better. No size, no strength, and very young. Not a winning combination.

The team will actually have more size next year.
Barnett is also being added, who as a HS player was a top 100 recruit.

It's just up to the coaches and players to give fans hope, that they can be better. I will give them a chance to show that to me.

We still only have 2 players over 6'8, both true Freshman, one of whom just had hip surgery and can't run until at least July. The guards might be bigger, but that's about it. Don't forget that Barnett isn't eligible until January either, so he'll be behind the curve even when he does get to play. I think expecting more than 10 wins is unreasonable with this roster and staff.

Work is going to make it tough to catch any sports live next year. But I hope to be able to catch a few games. I seem to be the only one that thinks it's possible for the team to actually be better next year.

I wasn't including unscheduled teams. Of the known teams there is not 10 wins. Add 2 more embarrassing teams to the noncon and you might get to 9 or 10 wins if you're lucky. Just like the last 2 seasons with the difference being its still just 9 or 10 wins against a shittier schedule

I like your eternal optimism but I'm just not buying in until I see it. I'll hope they improve but show me.

Now I didn't say that the team would be good. Just that I could see 10 wins before conference play gets here.
I'm hoping that a couple of the games in Italy this summer will be available. It could give us an idea as to where the team really is.
Example would be Barnett, is he really a wing? Or just another undersized 4 man?
Or are there any shooters on the team? The offense last year seemed to do ok at creating decent to good shots, just didn't have anyone that was consistent at hitting them.
Or the easiest way to get better is to play better defense. Can they do that?
WSU despite not being a big team was a great defensive team. Mizzou's guys could learn from watching how they defend.
Realistically this is most likely KAs last year. I've kind of have in my mind a few ideas for who the next coach could be.

Weakest non-conference in recent memory. And we'll still struggle to break 12 wins.

You can't rebuild when your foundation transfers every year.

Bad schedule but we are going to be bad next year. OU will not be ranked next year. They lost a ton of kids and just announced a transfer. They are going to struggle to make the NIT. With that said they will still be better than us.

I honestly dont see this team winning more than 12 or 13 games this year. I think they kept KA around purely because they did not feel confident in their ability to get their guy this year, and I dont say that like I know who "their" guy is or that they know who "their" guy is. I think it is more so they dont feel confident they could have landed someone who would fix the program so may as well wait one more year. This team would over achieve by winning 15 games and sadly I think 15 games would be enough for KA supporters to beg and plea for another year because that is "growth."

frick that. I ain't lowering my expectations just because KA has sucked donkey dicks the first two years. .500 might get ya to it, but regardless of record, better make NIT or NCAA this year. Otherwise good bye.

I'm done with looking into and possibly firing the winningest coaches and the worst (or 2nd worst) coach in program history skates clean. If MR wants to keep with that bullshite, good luck. I'll find something else to pass my time. Done with losing and supporting losing while we try to blow up programs that win.

Second thought, with that noncon schedule and not lowering expectations. Having a better record because you scheduled more shite-tastic teams doesn't fly. Assuming 2-3 more shite teams are added, I'd suggest he better finish somewhere closer to .650 or .700.

Looking at that schedule and the teams on it and what I would expect out of an average Mizzou team, 20 wins is below that. If I had to set the mark for expectations this year with a hard number, it would be 20+ wins. Good luck coach.

I don't know that I have a specific number of wins needed. For me it's all about hope for the future. Perform in a way that will give me the indication that the following years team will be one that competes for the NCAA tournament.
It really starts this summer with recruiting. If 2 of Sexton, Goodwin, Tillmon, Stewart, Bailey or comparable recruits commit would be a great start.
