What a fricking start to conference play for Mizzou. And on the road no less. Bond is lighting it up so far. Good to see the freshman from Georgia, Trey Harris, have a good weekend back home.

After the first weekend of conference games, out team leader in a few categories (not sure if they're updated to include today's game).
Batting Average: .373
Runs: 14
Hits: 22
Home Runs: 3
Slugging %: .525

Yep 808...it's Bond, Brett Bond.

Biggest test of the year so far this coming up weekend. SC comes to town. They're 17-3 and have a lethal top of the lineup. Bottom half of their lineup doesn't seem to be anything special. In fact, less than average.
Believe it or not, I think our pitching might be better top to bottom. Our offense top to bottom is no where near theirs though. Could actually be an interesting match up at home. If our pitching staff can keep it close, well I won't go there yet.

That's just the Mizzou schedule from their website but it indicates which games are televised. Most of them are on watchespn online from here on out. This Saturday against SC and the following Saturday against A&M are both on SEC Network.

MizzouAstro post on Tigerboard
MizzouAstro posted a really good breakdown on TB of the rest of the season and Mizzou's chances of making the tourney, and I'm not talking SEC tourney. And really, it's not completely far fetched at this point.
Basically, there are 9 OOC games left. Go 8-1 if that loss is to Illinois.
9 conference series left. Lose to the top teams 1-2 each series and beat the others 2-1. That means 1-2 against SC/A&M/UF/Vandy/LSU. Go 2-1 against UT/Bama/OM/UK.
That puts you at 36-19 with games won against some high quality teams. Might be enough to get in. If you don't win one against say SC this weekend, it means you have to 2-1 against one of the teams you were planning on going 1-2 against to make up the difference to remain at 36 wins. I really don't think, with the makeup of this team so far, that that is out of the question.

Got Air Force tonight at 6:05. Game is on SEC Network+.

Boys improve to 16-4. Beat Air Force 6-0.
Miles pitched 6 innings giving up 3 hits. No more hits allowed after that. Freshman De Oca pitched 2 scoreless/hitless innings.

Just, wow. I'm impressed. How are you seeing this weekends contest with USCe? Maybe a chance at snagging a game or two? Or get swept but be competitive?

Obviously, it's a game so anything is possible but I really could see us winning a game. I would be ecstatic if we won 2. They have more hitters than we do, but after you get past their top 4 or so guys, they've really just not been good at all. So if you can pitch smart around the top of their order, you stand a real good chance.
It's tough to compare because of the lack of common opponents, but at first glance, I'd take our pitching staff over theirs. I think we also run deeper.
It will be interesting to see how they do.

MU..................SC
(.278)............(.313)
(.267)............(.362)
(.247)............(.323)
(.236)............(.411)
(.349)............(.289)
(.239)............(.242)
(.227)............(.212)
(.244)............(.191)
(.137)............(.190)
Obviously the lineups can change up a bit, but these seem to be fairly common lineups as far as batting orders go. Their top 4 guys a solid. Bearing down and getting the first out every inning will be huge. If you can do that and avoid situations where you have no choice but to pitch to them with runners in scoring position, it could be trouble.

BTW - SC lost to Winthrop yesterday. Granted, completely different pitchers and lineups are often used in the midweek games, but still...
SEC depth.

I see what you mean. Get past the top of the order and hope the lower half doesn't come out of any slumps. Should be able to take a game or two. That kid 4th in the order, I mean .411? Damn thats on fire!
Our batting averages are really not that bad. It's pretty level all the way through the order. I think it's really a slight advantage due to being able to mix your batting order up every game if needed and they really can't. Thier line up is so lopsided.

I agree. The other thing about this season so far is that they're getting timely hits, with guys on. Finding ways to score. Last few years, they'd get meaningless hits with no one on and down by 8. Different story this year so far.
