Well, two out of three aint bad.

Pitching really sucked coupled with a very tight strike zone. That ump should find another line of work.

Kudos to USCe. They earned that win.

Yepp, but I like how our guys never gave up. Those damn wild pitches are fixable. Without those alone, we win or are going extras.

Wow! Just wow! Still soaking it in that we swept UGA and won the series against SC.

Got Arkansas Pine Bluff Tuesday and Wednesday in COMO. Both games on SEC Network+.

Next weekend is another tough one. Tigers travel to A&M, who's 24-1 on the year and 5-1 in conference. They swept Auburn and won 2 of 3 against Bama.

I hate bringing up injuries, but they might help Mizzou's chances. A&M has lost 2 weekend starters, though one was before the season and they've still gone 24-1 without him. They lost the other one last weekend against Auburn I think. If anything, might increase the odds in game 3, which is where Bama won also.

aTm is a little scary. Maybe we can line the pitching back out before we get to tejas. Let's hope.

I was looking at the schedule this year and man what a gauntlet. Holy cow. The other one that scared me was LSU, but we don't have them until the end of the season. So hopefully we'll be peaking and hitting on all cylinders.

Best I can tell of their lineup:

SS - Allemand .299
2B - Birk .310
DH - Nau .365
RF - Banks .410
1B - Melton .296
3B - Gideon .358
LF - Taylor .324 (5 HR's)
C - Barash .255
CF - Moss .258

That is some hitting man. Gonna be an interesting match up against our pitching.

They're likely weekend starters:

Long 2.08 ERA, .184 opp. batting average
Kent 2.80 ERA, .266 opp. batting average
Larkins 2.33 ERA, .267 opp. batting average

Pretty consistent across the board. If there's any good news, the guy they lost had an ERA of 0.43. Their bullpen has a number of guys with 10+ innings that haven't given up an earned run yet, including their closer, though they do average giving up at least one runner per inning through hit or walk.

Probably shouldn't start looking ahead quite yet, but can't help but look at the remaining conference games.

The bad news? We don't play Arky(11-11 and 1-5), Auburn(15-9 and 1-5) and MSU(18-8 and 2-4). Granted, it's early and they can all turn it around.

The good news?

We have a very winnable away series against UT(9-11 and 1-5).

We also have very winnable home series against Bama(13-9 and 3-3), OM(13-10 and 3-3) and UK(15-8 and 2-4). Not as winnable, but being at home does make UF(20-5 and 3-3) more winnable.

Th tough news? The road isn't going to be fun. At A&M(21-4 and 5-1), at Vandy(19-5 and 5-1) and at LSU(21-3 and 4-2).

Yeh. It's set back and see what happens. All you can do is hope some of these Mizzou hitters start to get hot soon.

Watching the bullpen get knocked around yesterday did help my confidence on going to aTm. Hope they can figure some things out there. Though, you're not going to keep a USCe team down for ever. Still a good hitting team, they finally got it going yesterday. What was it, 5 runs through the first two games and then 7 runs in the finally. I think they benefited from a very tight inconsistent strike zone. But it went both ways too. Murray just made the better pitches when it counted.

Took a look at the conference starts for their pitchers. Long has been good, going 6 innings each time, giving up 1 ER in each. He struck out 14 against Bama. If my math is right, 6 innings is 18 outs and he struck out 14 of them. Pretty impressive.

Their Sat and Sun starters have been shaky though. Kent on Saturdays has given up runs and Larkins didn't even get out of the 1st inning against Bama.

With a pitcher like Long, time to dust off the small ball game plan. Bunt him to death. Get runners on base to open up his pitching. Even would be worth the risk to try and steal some bases. Get him out of rhythm and they might be able to get a few hits.

Tigers have been pretty good at that this year too. Fairly good at taking advantage of errors or walks, moving guys around, scoring a run on 1 hit.
