When you've been on as long as I have, you figure out who the intelligent posters are and who are the idiots.

This is very true. The issue is that the threads where people are discussing things intelligently don't say at the top, and it's really hard to sort through and read the posts in any organized way.

MUBobby is a legend. Had inside scoops, but has since gone silent.

I always figured he went silent because of how hateful people were towards him over the B1G thing. People were awful, and I got the impression he was only sharing what he knew, what his sources knew - the fact that they were wrong wasn't his fault, but he got blasted. And I remember that TT poster, he did have some great info.

You can search here as well, by poster or topic.

I like that its basically a chat room on game days or when something is happening, I like the mob moderation or trolls, and I like being able to IM.

These are some of my favorite things about TB. Can you imagine mob-eration in practice on this site though?

PMs/IMs have been discussed. Not sure how that's perceived by the posse though. I can only imagine the harassment that would occur if people had access to PM or IM each other.

Tigerboard is like Twitter and that makes it terrific during a game to message with others watching the game at home.

It's fast, short messages that roll by quickly. Easy to update.

It's not designed for meaningful discussions.

Have a system that allows users to ignore incoming messages from posters on thier "ignore" list.

PM system would foster the community here far more than any negative aspectst hat may arise in my opinion.

The topic view on this site is quite the hassle. Very difficult to follow or avoid side conversations. The thread view makes it easy to avoid the wasted posts/posters.

Back in the Spring of 2011, during a long slump in the Aggie baseball season, the trolls took over Texags. I am an IT guy, so I started my own board. It's called aggiehardball.com

My biggest mistake was probably making it invitation-only (trying to keep out trolls). I invited probably 60 people to use it and had more than 40 registered.

The first two seasons, I sent out tons of PMs reminding people of all of the advantages of aggiehardball.com and did alright. I knew that last season would be my last in Aggieland, and didn't promote aggiehardball.com at all. It absolutely died. I had one regular poster all season.

People stick with what they're used to.

MUBobby is a legend. Had inside scoops, but has since gone silent. A TT poster knew critical info on realignment. TigerMike90 posted two days correct info on the Nubs going to B10 before it was announced.

I like the search capacity and being able to find posts from years back. Example: here is what TigerMike90 posted 2days before anybody knew about NU:

Nick does need to update the format.

Just reading that TigerMike post still sends cold shivers down my spine. We were so close to holding the bag with the Iowa State's on conference reallignment, it's not even funny. -- Then to fall into the open arms of the SEC is like a dream come true.

The late Beano Cook used to refer to Missouri as a sleeping giant - couldn't understand why MU wasn't a major power.

Well maybe I'm drinking the Kool-Aid, but I think Missouri is on the precipice of kicking in the door on this "Big Six" bullshite - especially in the SEC East.

And why not? We play a modern game (with modern uniforms) in the best conference in the country.

To quote Herb Brooks... "This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. This is your time. Now go out there and take it."

After the smoke settled and a picture came into focus regarding conference realignment its very clear Mizzou was never going to be on the outside looking in at the adult table. Its funny how our perception of the power conferences perception of Mizzou has changed now that we get to see and hear things after the fact. Its plain as day the B1G is kicking themselves for missing out on Mizzou.

Actually, I agree with you. Mizzou had too many positives to be left in the cold.

And seeing what Mizzou has brought (and will bring in the future) to the SEC, it's clear the B1G should be sick over not inviting us to join. Instead they've strung themselves out to the East Coast with no real way to finish executing Jim Delany's half-baked expansion plan.

I honestly don't see how it could have worked out any better! We got into the best conference in the country, AND got the last laugh on those douche-canoes in the B1G. Screw them. SEC baby!!

About 2 months before we announced the move, I had dinner with a good family friend in St. Louis who coaches basketball and is very knowledgeable. He told me Mizzou would eventually be in the B1G, and I told him I thought it would be the SEC. He told me how wrong I was, there was no way, and I gave him all my reasons why I thought we'd be in the SEC. We made a bet, and I still haven't collected on that dinner he owns me anywhere I want to go in St. Louis!

Great idea. I'm no computer guy, but I'd assume this is possible. I'd just like an "Ignore" button in general.

People PM each other on message boards?

An ignore button is a GREAT idea. It limits some of the trolling. Not a lot but some. What's nice is it allows you the ability to avoid the constant negativity some posters push out without avoiding the board.
